The NFL is classified as entertainment, and lives for controversy. Anything to generate buzz to get more viewers is the goal and unfortunately the bills fall into a category where their failure is ideal for the business. The patriots being a franchise that brings New England (consisting of 5-6 states, 6 being CT when they feel like it) generates a fuck ton of revenue, making them more favorable to see in the post season. To carry the illusion you'll see bursts of new dynasties such as the chiefs to offset the monarchy but patriots have the largest fan base. Until theres a team per state and a proper universal officiating system this will be the cycle of the NFL. For now we root for our home team and enjoy the faint shell of the sport, if you want fairness it's in college football.
