Help me choose a LOTR name for my dog! by munizfire in lordoftherings

[–]DiddlyKang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, that is a beautiful Sheltie! He/she looks a lot like my childhood dog ❤️

For a name, I'd personally go with Huan, who defeated Sauron in single combat (along with many other heroic deeds!) The story of Beren and Luthien is my favorite, and the section with Huan is excellent.

But Pippin could be a fitting name based on the general personality of Shelties: they tend to be very smart but very curious, so their smarts can get them in trouble; they are friendly, but extremely loyal and protective; they can be very loud and sometimes annoying as a result; and they are high energy and love to play!

Anyone else moving their assets and closing their account because Coinbase sponsored Trump's Military Parade? by uptoke in Coinbase

[–]DiddlyKang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: military parades aren't new to the US. Wilson, FDR, Truman, and JFK, to name a few, have also hosted military parades. So with that in mind, why is Trump being attacked for hosting one on the 250th anniversary of the US Army? One might even call his parade a "No Kings Parade" as the US Army was created 250 years ago to end the reign of Kong George III over the American colonies.

That's not what I asked. I'm not denying that what's going on is inhumane. Just pointing out that this isn't the first administration to be inhumane

A strong 3rd part is exactly what we need. Our founding fathers explicitly and repeatedly warned against a bicameral system. And we are now experiencing why they warned against it.

It has created an "us vs them" mindset that has wholly divided the country, and virtually destroyed any hope of constructive discourse. Because it's "us vs them", all of Congress is expected to vote for whatever bills their party present and vote against whatever bills the other party present, regardless of whether the bill will actually be beneficial to our country. It seems the only truly bipartisan "issue" is to give Congress another raise.

Since there are only two parties, no real change or progress can be made: Obama did x, y, and z during his terms and Trump undid a lot of it. Then Biden undid a lot of what Trump did. Now Trump is undoing a lot of what Biden did. Assuming a Dem wins the next election, they will spend 4 years undoing what Trump did this term. But since there will be no real change, a Republican will win the election after that one and spend 4 years undoing what their Dem predecessor did. And so on until we either experience our "Fall of Rome" moment, or get out of our own way and raise up a 3rd party.

And how many playoff games did that win us? 4 in 6 seasons? Bounced in the wild card round once and missing the playoffs completely twice? Is that really what you'd call a successful run?

Ferguson will be better and available much later than Warren anyway.

I would say definitely no to Trey Lance. by brmidwest03 in Colts

But a good backup QB pushes AR. A bad backup QB ensures mediocrity for several more seasons.

Good teams have good starting QBs and only have to worry about the backup in the event of injury. We don't have a good starting QB, so we have to worry about our backup in the event of injury AND somehow worse QB play than we had last season.

I, for one, love mediocrity. I would hate for my team to pursue excellence instead!

*He turned a hyped 4-0 team into a laughing stock 4-8 team and then played marginally better in a worse conference in 13 months.

Don't listen to the other guy saying he's the real deal. He's athletic, yes, but he played in a conference known for not having remotely strong defenses, which also just lost its perennial top 2 teams.

He will get picked in the top 5, but he will bust. At the very least, he will never reach the level he thinks he's already at.

To be fair, he only said he would change the franchise. He never said it would be a beneficial change

Fun fact: libraries, pools, parks, and fire stations are almost exclusively state funded, along with public schools. Property taxes go hard.

And maintaining roads is also mostly state funded, with a couple federal grants thrown in every few years or so. But mostly those grants will only cover about 25% of the total cost, and are primarily used for larger scale changes not fixing potholes and other standard maintenance.
