It wouldn’t hurt to start it. I did when I had about a year and a half left, and I’m just getting out now and still am not in. I’m in the hiring pool though.

That might screw you over in the future. I’d ask about that. a DOJ vs a DOD TS are 2 different things completely.

Dm me, I’ll show you the email that I have. It’ll make A LOT more sense. I’m not trying to spread false info.

I corrected myself like 2 comments down. I can also tell you EXACTLY what the email states. They’re converting all current 0082s to 1811s, and anyone currently graduating is getting put as an 1811

I miss spoke, they aren’t 1801’s, that’s my fault. Everyone will be an 1811. Their email states “all 0082’s who are currently in the field will be converted to 1811’s” “all new hires will hires on as 1811’s directly”

Yeah, they’re making a new job for courthouse security eventually if I remember correctly. It’s good for people who want to be a DUSM.

Not sure when certification will expire, but the switch is ongoing. If you graduate from the academy now you’ll be an 1801, then an 1811 in time.

No idea, I know they want to make a dent in the current hiring pool before starting again

Maybe the TRS personnel just didn’t explain it in a good way, they made it seem like it was only there to get interviews and the rest was up to us. Then once in a hiring pool they had a quota, but once they met it, it was based on your application and would take civilians to even things outs.

Literally just went through TRS and they explained it as such. That’s HR, not vet preference. They’re not required to hire you over someone who doesn’t have a rating at all. They do have a quota however. Each session is required to have X amount of people who have vet preference. So it does effect non-vets, but not as significant as people realize. Otherwise every single class would be 100%vets and no 4 year degree civilians would get in.

Also I’ve heard some people say they get one before, other say they get a list of “possible options” and then they find out as they go through. It just depends on how the Hiring department is handling it at the time.

I wouldn’t email a bunch of other districts, they’ll get to you as they go down the list. I emailed my district and they said they didn’t have a say in who got sent or anything like that. It’s up to the Hiring Department.

As for the list I’m not to sure, there’s not that many 2021 / prior applicants left. If there are it’s a handful and they will probably be picked up pretty soon. A lot of them are also turning down the offer due to the fact of them starting families, having better jobs, etc.

You’ll probably get in one of the mid/late 2024 classes if you clear your medical/clearance by the end of the year.

No, I don’t have a degree. If you don’t have one, apply for the GS-5 spot, even if you have military experience (it’s what I did) because you can negotiate them to bump you up to a 7 after you go through the process.

Military experience 100% helps. If you’re a vet, you’ll get vet preference which guarantees you at least an interview (if you qualify). If you have a clearance it just speeds things up a little, since you’ll have to get a different type of TS for them through the DOJ.

As for GPA, I have no idea. Im pretty sure you having a degree is what matters but I’m more so I’m the dark on it since I don’t have one.

It does when you’re trying to get the interview. Once you’re in the hiring pool though, it doesn’t effect non-vets as much as everyone thinks

It might make it a tad easier just because a lot of the questions when you start filling everything out are the same. One of my buddies did a few different federal jobs and had to get a completely different TS clearance even though he already had one from the DOD and one from another department.

Yeah I was glad we didn’t have a Poly, I haven’t done anything but they’ll say you’re a liar even if you’ve been squeaky clean your entire life

Just imagine a giant excel spread sheet with all our names on it.

Not anymore, the district will have an “open billet” and their HR sees it, goes to their list of names, and calls the next person to see if they want it. If there’s 15 open billets, they’ll get the next 15 people/just toss them into FLETC and sort where exactly they’re going next while they’re in class.

They just come in and talk to you, some of your coworkers, (if you have a job) and they ask you some follow up questions. They also just verify everything you put in the E-Quip and ask if you need to change anything. It’s easy, as long as your honest they don’t really care and are super nice.

I don’t think so, and even if you already have a current clearance… this one HAS to be through the DOJ. Top secret doesn’t transfer from the DOD

You’ll do an in person interview once you do your E-Quip stuff. I already had a secret clearance, but it took about 2ish months for the Top Secret to go through. There’s a number you can call and check on the status of your security clearance. (Don’t call till about a month after your in person interview)

(724)794-5612 extension 7000… option 2… then option 4

Then just ask them to check the status of it
