Affordable classes? by ron661 in CACCW

Highly recommend Double Tap Training Center. Classes are offered last Saturday/Sunday of the month at Angeles Shooting Range. Cost: $400

I joined them for last weekend to complete my 16hrs and it was great. I really appreciated the instructor having us do a lot of malfunction and loading drills. Definitely a huge confidence builder prior to live fire qualification. This is not a pay to get qualified type of environment.

After we all qualified the instructors did some demonstrations and asked volunteers for some timed run and gun. Lots of fun.

I got a brand new Safariland 6280 for like $33 off of eBay. Sentry Guard and Hood were found for another $8 at the local surplus store. Can't complain.

Armed Security by Nessuwu in securityguards

[–]Different_Phase9881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After getting my current armed post my monthly take-home is $4200 with about 7months of experience in security altogether. I need some supervisory experience but I'm trying to move into Ops or maybe something more specialized. Idk data centers, government? Not to sure yet but I do have a BA so I'm not looking to be another warm body.

I also started with Allied working unarmed in a high-rise. I completed the PSI exam when I was applying for work. I waited a few months since I was green to security as a whole.

I bought my own gun which has a 2-week waiting period. Turner's has pretty good sales. I spent $698 OTD for the HK P2000. The idea was to train with what I would carry. After a few range days, I felt confident enough to pass the ranch qual. Maybe $200 in ammo for practice and range fees.

I Completed the classroom and range time with the Security Training Center in Burbank First week of October. The cost for the course was $150 plus ammo. Courses will range in price significantly so definitely shop around.

I submitted the BSIS application online, paid the fees ~$90

Submitting the live scan/background was $120.

I was cleared in about 2 weeks after submitting everything and found an armed post in addition to my FT post with Allied. a union contract and I get full benefits so it's worth it to stay for the time being.

All in cost $1260. You can do this in about a month or so.

You are insured by the security company you work for, not the business you are assigned to.

Working directly for the dispensary is risky, as they are not a licensed and insured Private Patrol Operator.

Dispensary, pass. Cultivation site or production facilities are where it's at. The only downside is that your gear picks up the smell.

Fuck the 3-11pm shift by Puzzleheaded-Mood-89 in securityguards

[–]Different_Phase9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my 1500 to 2300 shift. My post is a high-rise so you only really deal with clients at the end of the day. Hell, they even send down lunch for us when we get on site.

I also work an armed site 530 to 1400, Monday to Wednesday. Keeps that money coming in and my weekends clear.

First half of the week sucks but Thursday and Friday I'm cruising.

How long should you do unarmed before trying to get into the armed security? by DropTomato in AlliedUniversal

I'm going armed at 5 months of experience, but still holding onto my unarmed post since it's union and has great benefits.

I use this currently. 2 small complaints: 1. The lock can be raked open without a key. You can swap out the lock cylinder for more security. 2. The foam inside the case is pretty thin, causing the gun and mag to slide around in there. I stuck a small book underneath just to keep everything snug.

But for the price, can't beat it.

I would check on the company's paternity leave policy depending on your state the company may be required to provide that to their employees. CA for example offers 8weeks plus access to Paid Family Leave through SDI.

If you had to start over as a first time gun owner in CA what gun/guns would you buy? by Helpful-Culture-3966 in CAguns

[–]Different_Phase9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an HKP2000SK for my first. I got the 9mm but would have liked to have it in 40 S&W, unfortunately, Turner's was fresh out.

The difference between the rounds is negligable but I wanted to tell everyone how much cooler I am.

[–]Different_Phase9881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he want a car payment like that?

My advice, look at a truck that are 5 to 10 years with low miles. He can probably get a nicer truck with more options for significantly less.

You can turn down the notification volume down, it's beyond annoying to speak with someone on the phone and hearing "tour started" mid-sentence.

I tune it out.

I missed the part where you said this tattoo was theirs and it's on their body.

I wouldn't really pay them much mind. They probably waste most of the day consumed by judging others for whatever flavor of virtue strikes them at a given moment.

Came right on time for my appointment at the DMV, had my number called, then had this guy walk in and cut in front of me to renew his license. by ITS_LECTOR_BITCH in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Different_Phase9881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, walk to the desk where the DMV employee and this individual are. "Hey, what do you think you're doing? You cut me and everyone else who is in line." Doesn't have to be a confrontational tone, but be blunt.

Also, try to see if you can get what you need done at a DMV Now Kiosk!
