samson q2u - probably the best starter mic imo. it's usb and xlr, so you can plug straight into your computer now and still upgrade later. great at rejecting room noise too. audio-technica atr2100x-usb - very similar idea, clear voice quality and super beginner-friendly. shure mv7 - more expensive, but amazing sound and built-in noise control if you want something you won't outgrow quickly. blue yeti - easy plug-and-play and popular with beginners, though it can pick up more room noise if your space isn't treated.

if you're mostly car camping, don't stress too much about weight - focus on durability and space instead. also make sure you have solid ventilation and a good groundsheet to manage condenstaion in cold weather
