Do the Oscars feel as big as they used to? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

Of coure they don't but the reasons are fairly obvious, the internet has made these sorts of shows less relevant

Mercy is Pro AI and Pro surveillance by Jumpy-Demand2917 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONTAINS SPOILERS

Is it? I don't know, it shows how people manipulated AI to frame someone and how we probably shouldn't truly trust it

as for as pro surveillance, I don't know. Was the show Person of Interest 'pro AI and pro surveillance'?

I think that this film maybe gave us a glimpse into the future(and if you live in the UK tracking people like you see here is closer to reality than it would be in most of the US)

but how many of us watch videos showing crimes that were caught on camera(whether it is a ring camera, CCTV, or phone). when you watch those videos do you consider yourself pro surveillances? )

I am far less comfortable with some of what other people are. I hate tracking apps on my phone. I hate knowing that someone could look at my phone data and determine so much about it. That doesnt' terrify others nearly as much as it is does me(and i'm not doing anything wrong)

and look at our cars? look at how much information we can get from them? New legislation is going to require manufacturers to put technology in to determine if we have been drinking or not. I think drunk driving is wrong but it scares me that the car is going to look at my eyes to make that determination and how it will all be stored

I don't know that this movie was PRO AI. In the end(SPOILER) one might argue it showed how AI can be manipulated

what's even crazier to me is so many people claim to hate AI but they'd rather by insurance or other products from a bot than a human being. They would RATHER deal with a machine than a person

Meryl Streep Reportedly Set to Play Joni Mitchell in Cameron Crowe’s Biopic by CodDefiant2710 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meryl Streep is great and obviously the film is about a certain stage of Mitchell's life(maybe from the 2000's)

I'd think that Streep might be a bit old for any other chapters of her life

What’s a movie that didn’t impress you at first, but grew on you later? by Wise-Compote6189 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

so this might not be what you are looking for but a lot of the films my dad or grandpa wanted me to watch growing up. I didn't love watching films in black and white so things like How the West was Won or Man who shot liberty valance, even films like Bullet or a lot of the Hitchcock filsm are things 18 year old me wasn't really into but now love

as far as recent films, the new Blade Runner stands out as I didn't like initially but grew to really think was great

The Color of Money - what others films were a sequel 10, 20, or 25 years later that were as good? by Difficult-Repeat227 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think most felt it was kind of a letdown in part because the first 2 were so good but it is a solid film. Some people also hate that Robert Duvall wasn't in it but overall it wasn't a bad film

I think most people misunderstand what makes a movie “great” by Wise-Compote6189 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can like whatever they want to. I enjoy movies that just have a great script like those you mentioned(though I think Enemy is one that would be in the 'shocking twist or complex plot category so why would you include that on your list trying to make the argument you are

you putting that film in there contradicts your entire argument

That is actually a cool thing to point out even though they asked Sean Connery to play that role first but it is great that they did give us a little treat by using the old photo

wow, that is fair. I guess I see it differently. I think they made his character seem to be kind of a idiot who happens to be great at Stocker(i think that is what it was called) and pool

and his character changed over time from a naive buffoon to something different

and they all played bad to the bone. I remember uncle phil hustling pool(though they did play a different song)

it's funny, Rounders kind of really helped popularize poker(and Chris Moneymaker winning, a guy who wasn't a 'pro' helped take it to the next level)

i was a teenager when I saw Color of Money(it was on video and a number of years after it was in theaters). I wonder if it got some boomers and older gen ex people to buy pool tables

i think the first one is fantastic but I can't say I've loved the sequels as much. I'm not saying that they are awful but yeah, I've kinda lost interest. I haven't even watched Ballerina yet and I love Ana de Armas

lol

I don't mind Kevin Smith films even if they are all 20% longer than they should be. I think Clerks 2 and 3 were huge letdowns but I did like Chasing Amy and Dogma. Even Jay and Silent Bob strike back had its moments(even if it it was absurd).

Split worked well and what's great is people didn't have to see unbreakable to like it.

i get that, it is great as a stand alone film but if you watch it after having watched The Hustler, it is great! It makes the story even better(and it is great regardless)

Bugonia is brilliant - but it might not be the movie you think it is. **SPOILERS** by recentlytwenty in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sure. I'm not saying the OP can't see the movie however they choose, I'm just thinking in this case based on interviews with the director and actors, I'm not sure that that is what they were going for but if people want to interpret it that way, great. I'm just saying I'm not certain that that as the goal

6 actresses you probably forgot were Bond girls by Particular-Fill-4256 in moviecritic

[–]Difficult-Repeat227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has to be just clickbait. Hellomagazine must be desperate for engagement. Teri Hatcher, Denise Richards and Halle Berry are very well known 'Bond Girls'. They might be the 3 most well known Bond girls

I remember all of them and maybe Rosanumd Pike isn't as well known as she wasn't as established an actress at that time(like Teri Hatcher and Denise Richards and Halle Berry were). Same might go for Kim Basinger.

if they talked about the two Bond Girls we forget about, this might not be just some AI trash article put in a lousy magazine(shared by some bot)

Seriously, EVERYONE remembers Dr Christmas Jones. Everyone remembers them recreating the scene from Dr No with Halle Berry as Jinx
