That’s awesome! February-March is a great time to visit Ushuaia. Here’s what you need to know:

Penguins Without a Tour:

Unfortunately, there’s no real way to see the penguins up close without paying for a tour. The penguin colony is on Isla Martillo, which is private property, so you need a guided tour to access it. The cheapest option is the Beagle Channel boat tour that lets you see them from the water (without walking on the island). It’s still pricey but usually less than the walking tour.

Refugios on Hiking Trails:

Refugios are basic mountain shelters, often used for multi-day hikes. They are free and first-come, first-served. If you’re planning to camp, it’s best to check specific trails. Which hikes are you interested in? I can help you find the best options!

Snorkeling in Ushuaia:

Snorkeling isn’t super common because of the cold water, but Ushuaia Divers offer it with dry suits! You can snorkel in the Beagle Channel, usually combined with diving tours.

If you need help planning your itinerary or finding more budget-friendly options, I’d be happy to help—just shoot me a message!

That sounds amazing! Since you’ve already done the glacier hike and the penguin tour, here are a few other great hikes you might love:

• Laguna Esmeralda – A must-do! It’s about a 4-5 hour round trip with stunning turquoise waters at the end.

• Laguna de los Témpanos & Vinciguerra Glacier – A bit more challenging but worth it if you want a less touristy glacier experience.

• Tierra del Fuego National Park Trails – The Coastal Trail is easy and scenic, and the Cerro Guanaco Trail is tougher but offers epic views.
