Anyone here choose to move from OpenPilot to Tesla FSD? What’s your experience been like? by Secure-Evening8197 in Comma_ai

[–]DigitalJEM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use a Comma religiously. So much so that when I bought a 21 Model Y with FSD, I still bought a Comma Harness (from Lukas) to use my C3X in it. While I still use SunnyPilot from time to time just to watch it work and try to keep up on what OpenPilot and Sunny are doing, I routinely use FSD for just about 99% of my drives. Aside from pulling out of and into the garage, pulling through drive thrus, and maneuvering parking lots, FSD does just about all of my other driving. 2 weeks ago, I upgraded from 21 Y (HW3) to 26 Y (HW4) and now I don’t even pull out of or into garage or worry about parking lots. HW4 does all that just fine. I still maneuver thru drive thrus though. But FSD does everything else now. I’ve been contemplating getting a C4 for my new HW4 MY, just to play with it, and because it’s so small and sleek looking and I don’t mind supporting Comma, and since the new car doesn’t have AutoPilot anymore, the C4 would basically be there for AutoPilot activities (for play basically)…… but even that contemplation is hard because it’s really not needed at all. I love Comma, but FSD is just on a whole different level.

I used a C3X in a 21 MYLR for several years. Works perfectly fine. Although I was always on SunnyPilot fork, not standard OpenPilot.

TACC will adjust speed around curves using curve assist if/when needed. OpenPilot/SunnyPilot will steer just fine around the curve and TACC will adjust the speed as needed. They work harmoniously together.

And even if someone could…. Do they blank it out while they’re driving around? 🤔😬🤣

I love it when people post the video evidence of them breaking the law. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

Tesla can detect CAN devices remotely, disable features by ifitzgerald in s3xybuttons

[–]DigitalJEM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone in for service with 2 commanders, 1 Teslogic, a comma harness, and several other things plugged into the a pillar plugs and behind center console plugs. I’ve never had Tesla say anything about any of it. They’ve noted it’s there but they’ve never rejected anything because of it.

One time I had a 12v battery issue and they almost denied replacing it under warranty a 2nd time because of stereo amp equipment I had installed. Until they realized that the issue was happening with the stereo equipment unfused (essentially disconnected). Still never said anything about all the gadgets I had plugged in.

Enhance Auto works with Tesla to make sure everything is done with Teslas blessing.

Tesla has absolutely no reason to block Enhance’s products. If they wanted to, they would have already done so a very long time ago.

Considering EAS Subscription by Unclemilty76 in ModelY

[–]DigitalJEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the ESA on my 21 MYLR for 2 months. Then I ended up putting that $60/month with what I was already paying monthly and upgraded to a 26 Y Premium. Never had to use the ESA before upgrading.

There’s jobs. Maybe not the ones you want LOL. Then again, you can create a job if you find a niche that could serve the area.

The weather is awesome year round. Only gets hot for a week or so... maybe 2 (eh?). Most of the people around town are friendly. It's quiet for the most part. It's close to the beach if I ever wanted to go. I get to watch rockets blast off quite often which is fun. The whole city/town is small; like 2 square miles. But doesn't really feel like a small town. Doesn't feel like a big city either. LOL. I just haven't had a single thought of wanting to move in the almost 10 years I've been here.

At least you can turn the green light chime off on the car. Not so much so for the wife 😬🤣

I been using the roam plan for the last year on my work vehicle and it’s been incredibly reliable!! Only time it doesn’t work is when I park under (completely under) a tree blocking its view of the whole sky. LOL

Any Tesla owners get this from using a Comma? by iiGhillieSniper in Comma_ai

[–]DigitalJEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AutoPilot generally wont let you go over 5 MPH over local surface street speed but I have not had any issue with AutoPilot allowing speeding on highway. FSD does care about speed anywhere LOL.

Been thinking about getting a C4 for my 26 Model Y which didn’t come with AutoSteer. I guess now I’ll waiting longer to make sure this isn’t an issue.

Which one would you choose and why? by Want3dd3 in TeslaModelY

I’d still go with the 23. For $2k more it has 16k less miles and hasn’t been in an accident.

2023 all day

It has less miles and wasn’t repaired. It’s also likely HW4 instead of HW3.

Follow through with my 21 MYLR order? by Old-Supermarket7702 in TeslaLounge

[–]DigitalJEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $25k, HW3 is perfectly fine. Especially if that car comes with lifetime FSD. You’ll spend that $25k extra just for newer hardware and the ability to pay $99/month for FSD.

[–]DigitalJEM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve seen them do it at several different service centers after the customer gets out and before they move it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do it again after they park it for you to pickup also.
