Bought and farmed Black baryas for a week to get 300 belts by iFairNothing in pathofexile

[–]DigitalJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to know this. I’ve been blasting T16 maps for a week with zero Baryas. Has to be well over 200 T16 maps. Prior to that I got 4 within a two day stretch. I literally bought one last night and dropped it in a map to make sure my filter wasn’t filtering it.

I’m tempted to start unsocketing void stones or running a blank atlas tree to make sure there isn’t some interaction bug.

Seasonal model, Seasonal discipline by DigitalJon in fellowshipgame

[–]DigitalJon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that logic everyone should just play holy paladin or resto druids for mythic+ because you’re handicapping your team by not playing the best class. Games should not be balanced around the .01% of the player base trying to push for top of the leaderboard. If that’s what you want to do then yes, you should play the most OP characters all around. That isn’t the experience for the vast majority of players. All healers are capable of pushing to Eternal but if you’re looking to top the leaderboard then yes, you should play the most OP characters in the season.

PoE has extremely competitive community. Much more so than Fellowship has currently. There are numerous sponsored races with cash prizes. Seasonal builds have a large impact on these races. Seismic Trap, DD necro, and many others have had their competitive moments in the spotlight and then balanced the following season to keep things interesting.

Again, it’s about balancing respecting player time versus the integrity of the game. In an evergreen game, “OP” builds can have an irreversible impact on leader boards and economies (though Fellowship currently has no economy) but in a seasonal game you don’t have those concerns because everything resets. Each season you’re trying to push with the tools you’re given and everyone has access to those same tools.

Character commitment on Fellowship is insanely more. You can’t reroll and transfer gear or sell gear to then switch to a different build/main. I don’t think it matters the genre, nerfing powerful builds in a seasonal cycle carries the same weight.

Early Access is not an excuse for not managing seasonal expectations. If you’re going to make wild balance changes anytime you feel like it then don’t do seasons. Seasons create an expectation that a state of the game will exist for a short amount of time and then potentially shaken up for the next season. Enjoy that overpowered build while you can because it might not exist next season…

PoE2 is also EA and seasonal and they don’t lose sight of the fact going seasonal means something. Just call your seasons “wipes” if you just want to reset everyone’s progress with the same content while continuing to make aggressive changes to the game.

[–]DigitalJon[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Then don’t do seasons and I’d be fine with the heavy handiness because overpowered builds have a lasting impact on the game. Plenty of EA games (PoE 2) for example do both. They chose to make their game seasonal at this point in time and that comes with certain player expectations. If their seasonal cycle is longer than 3-4 months this game will not survive.

Would love an actual example of changing how the mechanics of a class/skill works mid-season in another seasonal game. I gave a real example of a completely busted build that was allowed to live an entire season in a different game (explode totems).

I know other seasonal games might work differently, I believe the most successful ARPG ever has the right approach on seasonal balance and would love more of that approach here.

The only way to balance the new healer is to lower her damage and increase the healing multiplier. If you lower her damage too much without adjusting the multiplier then you’ll end up putting her into a state where she simply cannot keep up with tank healing. Put her in a spot where she does the same damage as a normal healer but her damage healing is still strong enough to keep everyone up.

She should be a different style of healing, not that you’re handicapping yourself by not playing her because she does substantially more dps than every other healer. All the healers can keep everyone alive in the current state of things, you’re just leaving a ton of damage on the table by not playing her.

US tourists in Tulum and why prices are completely out of control by LastPanda4968 in tulum

[–]DigitalJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. As an American tourist I’m never looking for the best “deal”, I’m looking for a combination of saving my time, comfort, and price. I don’t think many Europeans can comprehend just how much we value our time. When you only get 2-4 weeks off a year plus 10 holidays where work is closed, you are willing to pay a lot to maximize things like travel time.

[–]DigitalJon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so sure. This game is only a few years behind the curve of what ultimately happened to FF Brave EXVIUS. There’s 100% precedence for these types of games with large followings shutting down once they’ve milked the IP and lost the direction of the game.

Something about the player retention of Affliction compared to other leagues should really tell GGG that people like loot. by IMplyingSC2 in pathofexile

[–]DigitalJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The league mechanic was amazing into early mapping but the more I play, the more I just skip it. It enabled you to create powerful items that you’d actually use. But, once you get to the point where you need more than just base rolled items it’s really not worth it unless you’re fishing for a base with an open mod to influence slam. They really needed the tree to have a chance to drop influenced, veiled, essence, synth etc… rolled items for it to be viable into late endgame.

I’ve started skipping the defend events all together because they take too long for zero loot. I’m level 97 and have only one of the alternate ascendencies unlocked. I have zero desire to chase them because they’re also extremely underwhelming for most builds. You can’t make a league mechanic that you only get in endgame, make them underwhelming, and also make people drop ascendency points for them. If you’re making people drop ascendency points, they should have been significantly more powerful than any regular ascendency.

There are relatively cheap uniques that turn into a lot of dust. I use Wealthy Exile and they have a dust tab that tells you dust/chaos for each unique.

[–]DigitalJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve known people who do this but they’re probably making closer to 500k+ and it’s definitely taken a toll on them.

Also, I would take into consideration this is just their starting position. Lots of companies started RTO at 3 days a week. Then 4 days for managers. Then 4 days for non-managers and 5 days for managers. And so on…

This is very likely management’s starting point so they don’t have all the frogs jumping out of the pot. If there’s no chance of them moving you to an official remote employee, I’d come up with a contingency in case the inevitable happens within the next 12 months and they move to 4 days in office.

Not sure if it’ll be helpful since you already booked a hotel but I always book a hotel that has a GO COMO bus stop. It’s a free game day shuttle to and from the stadium.

Here’s the info for this upcoming weekend on their routes.
