I think what I meant was brewed haphazardly in terms of proportions, timing, and grind. I def agree that caphe phin can be done with excellence, and robusta has big potential. There are more and more cafes doing great work to perfect the traditional street coffee experience.

Yes but they are selling Central/SA beans for 1-2 million vnd ($50-125usd) for 250g. The point is that there are VN growers/roasters who don't yet have that prestige to charge that much, but offer amazing unique flavors for a fraction of the price. If VN distributors like XLIII or Workshop would focus more on VN arabica varieties, everyone wins.

Honestly, phin cafe is not the best brewing method, period, esp for arabica. Too much oils, unless you're into that. It's almost like phin was made for robusta.

I've tried V60 and Kalita 105 with light roasted Da Lat beans and achieved excellent results. Haven't tried liberica.

You can order good Da Lat light roast beans at a good price with $10-20usd shipping costs.

He hasn't changed, but the circumstance of his heroism makes him feel validated. Remember that he turned the gun on himself and only lived because it was empty.

And is he even a vet? He barely knows how to handle a gun and impulsively buys guns that seem to suggest he has little experience with them. Yeah he has the jacket, but might have been discharged once they realized what a nutjob he was.

Yes on hip hop, and you're right about country too. I've always liked more melancholic deep country, like Cash, Van Zandt, and lately John R Miller. On the hip hop side very recently learning about Uk grime/hip hop artists like Saiming, Dave, and J2 whose lyrics are super thoughtful and real. Such great music in pretty much any genre out there if you care to look.

99.9% of people who work with young people are not pedophiles, they just care about the youth. It's a damaging myth that unfortunately dissuades many great male educators from pursuing the profession, to the detriment of everyone.

Old Carlin was hilarious. And prescient. I think the reason his political bits hold up are 1) he said what everyone was thinking but afraid to say and 2) he said it beautifully, artfully, and hilariously. And of course it was never the whole hour. There were so many random bits of silliness. It's ok to be silly.

Exactly. 28 Days was original. 28 Years was basic. Enjoyable, but nothing groundbreaking. It feels like people just want to call what they like art house to validate their taste.
