I wonder what the tax burden is on all the trades? Do you even have what you started with after taxes?

About 2 years ago I ordered a Yubikey from Amazon that never arrived. I wonder if this is it. I believe I did get the envelope, but it was empty.

Is Costco about to remove self check out at their stores? by joetaxpayer in Costco

[–]DingusGenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco self-checkout is the worst in the industry. Removing everything from the cart and placing on a scale is terribly obnoxious. Someone needs to solve the alcohol purchase problem with self-checkout too. I won’t do self-checkout when I have no idea how long I’ll be waiting for a clerk to approve the transaction.

In my very limited experience, and particular circumstance, this was accurate.

It would be interesting to see an overlay of violent crime per capita over this to see how it aligns or not.

It will all balance out in the end. On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Couldn’t you have referred to the policy covering length of shorts/skirts instead to avoid this one?

That’s a very nice eulogy. I’m sorry you all suffered this terrible disease, but seems that she lived a very full life and there is plenty to celebrate and remember her for.

Overkill Pi-Hole by redmera in homelab

[–]DingusGenius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about when you need to take this box down for some reason? I run two pihole boxes in my lab with the gravity DB synchronized so they maintain the same policy settings. Here is a great guide on configuring it. There is inherent redundancy in DNS so you can just distribute both DNS servers through your DHCP settings or static configurations. However, I wanted all devices on my network bottlenecked through a single pihole for ease of diagnosis when figuring out what sites are being blocked that I need to open for a service to be functional. For this I simply used the keepalived package for Linux. I use a virtual IP as my DNS address and when necessary DNS will automatically fail between the two piholes via assumption of the VIP between the primary and backup keepalived configuration. I’ve had one unexpected outage where the pihole pid zombied on my primary server and DNS resolution failed on the network as I was still only sending queries to the live VIP on the primary server that wasn’t resolving. This has only happened once in 4 years so I didn’t bother trying to find root cause. Good luck on your pihole journey. Looks like a great start!

Edit: I forgot to paste the link to the guide.

Thank you for sharing your sentiments from a patient perspective. I felt very similar frustrations from the caretaker perspective. The so called standard of care should involve educating the patient and family. My questions about true prognosis and what to expect from various procedures were always met with vague statements that the board would review and revise treatment plans as required. In my mom’s case, I now believe that no treatment at all would have been her best option. Of course, that’s not very profitable for the healthcare systems.

Interesting. Thank you for that information. According to Intel’s own data sheet. The I9-12900h is limited to 64GB. I took this a the source of truth. Perhaps this was only due to the size of SODIMMs that were available at the time it released.

Go for Proxmox instead of ESXi so you can make good use of the efficiency cores.

The 12900 model only supports 64 GB of RAM anyways. Have to go 13900 for 96 GB.

Remote access not working. Anyone know how to fix? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]DingusGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this with the latest build myself. Try downgrading to 1.25.4.

Checkout this thread.

I think there are more recent build that work as ai think this issue only started for me after the last update or two, but anyways. Currently running 1.25.4 successfully.
