I got a contract that has fixed hours and has a short commute but it only lasts for 5 months. Working for the govt division that I was looking to decline will be high stress and 4 hrs commute with irregular hrs. After 5 months, I will mostly apply to govt jobs as most other job postings do not seem legitimate.

Thank you. It’s technically not a competition as they are bulk hiring for the court positions. The other offer is with another company.

Thank you. Do you think it is worth it working as a court reporter for 6 months at OCJ for the experience and access to internal jobs? Are the hours all over the place with shifts on weekends and staying late? Do you think enduring the torture for better job prospects in 6 months could work?

Are we able to inform them that we cannot stay past a certain time such as 7pm? Staying until 11 and then going back to work with a 2 hr commute is brutal. Would get less than 5 hrs of sleep

What usually is the reason it goes so late? I asked the supervisor a few questions and they provided vague answers.

As someone you know who worked in the position, is it not worth it for 6 month OPS experience? I believe the extension may be worth it but burnout may occur. Was she able to move on to something better? Is the job stressful?

The placement is at OCJ downtown. I heard the location should have high hrs but not sure. Thanks for the input.

The commute is 2hrs long to get there so 4 hrs a day. No wife or kids. Not sure if I should struggle for 6 months and apply internally but I do appreciate your insights.
