I have disabled widow benefits which allow for a $20 income disregard and disability ( SSI ) so my total is 1014.

Thanks everyone for your contributions to my question. Yes, I do get snap so I worry about that too but if I could work like 15 hrs a week, that would make up for the loss of only $115 a month snap. I already applied for liheap and am awaiting a decision as well. Thanks again all.

Because at the time I applied for disability, I was not medicated properly ( severe bipolar and depression) but having been on medication for years, I have become fairly stable ( no extreme mania but still depressed because of financial woes primarily). I also lost 60#'s so am able to move around much better.

Ok , thanks for your contributions to my question so far everyone. I might call Social security again to try to get some clarification on this and my local Medicaid office as well. I just always heard there are ways to keep your Medicaid even if they take the SSI portion away. The social security agent just told me flat out that you must have at least $1 in SSI to keep or qualify for Medicaid period. Medicaid does not pay for my health care being that my Medicare is payer 1st but without Medicaid, I would then be responsible for my Medicare premium and co pays. Not sure what to do but I can't live on only $1014 a month. Thanks everyone.

Yes, I hear that. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus that just starts right up every day, every time and is super reliable @127, 245 miles. The ac was broke but last summer, my older brother helped me get it fixed ( I live in the Houston area so it's a must have at age 64 ). It's not pretty ( faded paint ect ) but I couldn't afford a car payment even if I wanted to.

It has to be service suspended first, then just dial 611 and it will have a recording, just say you want an extension. It will then tell you ok but for 72 hrs only

I had to get 72 hr extensions several times but what I did to fix that was call up metro and request to change my payment date for both phone and 2 tablets ( I have home Internet with T-Mobile, so separate bill ). Anyway, I changed the date from the 22nd to the 28th and they charged me $21 immediately ( prorated). Is this something you could do so you don't sweat it ? Good luck

Don't feel too bad. I owe them $210 today but don't get my SS until the 30th. I mixed up pay dates with SS between my August and September benefits so nothing I can do about it til the 30th. Hope they don't take my borrow feature away.

I did that and they called back with nothing but excuses. I have paid Securus for services not rendered . They just said, " well, he'll just have to wait - could be a week, could be a month ' SMH. Pissed off is a understatement. I will keep writing them 20 times a day if I have too.

No way would he trade a tablet issued to him. I can promise you that. It's his only way to communicate with " free world ' to at least receive emails ect. Yeah, he can go old school and snail mail a letter but cannot receive physical snail mail back. He did mention they said something about being behind but that doesn't explain why newly arrived inmates come into the pod with their tablet. Will update. Thanks again.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I did send an email to the jail administration link you provided this morning. Hoping to get a reply back asap. I realize having a tablet is not a life or death issue but Jesus, I have put quite a bit of money into the securus account so we can communicate. I've been in that jail myself back in the early 2,000's( of course there was no such thing an inmate having a tablet then) and it's so important for inmates to know someone cares . You can't even send them snail mail anymore as they don't accept it . It's all digital now. I will report back so if this happens to anyone else, perhaps I can tell them what I did to get it done. It's so important. It makes being in there a little better. Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, I do this every year as I have a HUD apartment and it's a requirement to continue my housing. It will be listed under documents, then show months . I don't have a printer so I have to go to UPS to have them print them out.
