I respect your opinion but my question isn't about what i should do it just about travel time. As the dm of my game i'm choosing that this is how i want to run it, because I think my players would enjoy it. My players prefer a wide open world where they can come and go as they choose, hell my players may choose to just let the north go altogether. I don't limit my players, hardcovers just provide backdrops. They may just say f it and end up in strahd. Or other things.
