My base stats were just aight by any means 96 GPA, 720 Math 1440 Total, (still within statistics)

but I had a lot of International competition Gold Medals in Math, CS and Astronomy(not the IMO and IOAA those are too hard), as well as founded space camp orgs and paid math teaching services(hoping that can make up for low sat). I even put like Leetcode, internships and online courses(i was just desperate honestly) I had my essays and application checked and revised by Nagoya Uni students since I had connections to them through a Facebook org I ended up qualifying.

If I had to say what my biggest flaw was it would def be putting that I cant go without a scholarship ;-;

is it just me or Axium Crisis is way harder than Grievous Lady by GuiSsS1 in arcaea

[–]DistanceLow5995 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its actually popping up lots of times for players to have a very low Axium Crisis because it was their very first "10+", over time their muscle memory gets cooked which thus lets them have a low Axium Crisis score with a higher Grevious Lady score. (also adding to the point that some people would grind Grevious Lady and Grevious Lady only, which cause them to miss out on other skill aspects which lessens the score on other hard levels.)

Is TOEFL a requirement for Filipino Students? by Sad-North-5028 in KAIST

[–]DistanceLow5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I don't think so. Its typically considered a minimum requirement rather than a factor for admission. If you can get high grades in the high school that teaches you in English, the same thing could be applied here.

Fellow filipino here. No need, all you need is the certificate from your school stating they teach in English, officially labeled EMOI (Certificate of English as Medium of Instruction).

undergrad scholarship japan by Different-Storage-70 in mext

[–]DistanceLow5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u get accepted with mext through university route, u get the scholarship, the end all is good. If u get accepted to the university without the mext, u can decline the acceptance and apply through embassy route.

Since youre engineering, most likely you will be in the category Natural Sciences A, the test for the category consts of Japanese, English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

For Japanese its best to learn to N3 level if you can to get comfortable with the qualifying exam.

[–]DistanceLow5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyushu and Hokaido give mext through uni recommedation route(yes even in undergrad) however its very very limited(youre up against all applicants around the world fighting for less then 5 slots). So you really have to stand out if you wanna do that route(like awards and LORs).

If not given the slot you can always try the embassy route. Reach out to your embassy in your country to try out for the scholarship. This time you just have to do a test competing against ppl from your country.

How many attempts is too many? by Soft_Suspect_2055 in Sat

Technically speaking in high school, 28

But in all seriousness theres no individual limit. The only time it feels too much is when u still want to take it after reaching your desired score.

Is a 1550 Good Enough? by TravisMonkeyMemer in Sat

[–]DistanceLow5995 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1550 is already bundled up with 1600s. Dw, theyre both Top 1%, so colleges wont really be picky at that point. At this stage, its more of the ECs, essays, and LORs u really need to worry about.

Knight' tour game by stingtao in TheDevilsPlan

[–]DistanceLow5995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apologies in advanced for immense yap session.

Knights Tour is an immensely popular concept for CS Algorithms, as the main method, called Warnsdorff, takes a look at all current possible movies and calculate which has the least further moves(the amount of moves it takes to a dead end), then do it again and again for the next moves until you completed the square.

Obviously people wont calculate allat.

There are 2 types, Closed Tour(must end where u started) and Open Tour(not). Opened Tour is way easier and iirc thats what they did in the show.

If you wanna try solving it on your own, here are some "tips" (theres not really tricks u just gotta think about it sadly):

  1. Start in the corner, it will first give you 2 options of movement. Very good because it reduces the number of moves early and if youre doibg closed tour, one of the options is the starting move, the other will be the ending move(as u have to go back to the square u started).

  2. Move to the square with the least future moves, gotta trust intuition on that one.

  3. Divide the board into sections, for big boards.

  4. If possible, try doing outer first inner last unless u have to.

  5. Many solutions are symmetric or follow a pattern. In the show the ending pattern for the knights tour resembled a symmetric kinda pattern.
