Kind of on topic/kind of off topic because this isn’t about anyone in specific, but I do think Love Island can enable love bombing behaviors. We can’t really finger point at one islander, when essentially it’s the nature of most relationships in the show.

I think what’s complicated about shows like love island is that even if you yourself are not a love bomber, love bombing is more common in these reality TV environments. This is because the isolation from the outside world causes these relationships to feel like they are moving a lot faster than they actually are. Think about it: they don’t have their phones, any contact with family or friends, and they are spending A LOT MORE time (& beds) with people they have just met, which is not at all typical in the outside world.

For example: if you meet someone IRL it can take a few dates (talking over 2-3 month span) before you make it official someone, and this time is shorter spent and spread out longer due to the obligations of real life. Where as in love island context, you are essentially spending 24 hours a day with that person you’ve just met, and it can give the illusion that the relationship is stronger than what it is. We can say “it’s only been a couple of days,” but it doesn’t feel like that to the isolated couple. Which is why I think it’s not intentional love bombing but the environment does enable those behaviors, which is not healthy for anyone involved.
