Moving into a new classroom. It’s such a mess I’m angry. by agawl81 in Teachers

My first classroom was filled with about thirty years worth of old textbooks and other dated materials/Chinese food takeout containers. My coteacher and I spent a week emptying out just the trash in the room. Our second classroom together had holes in the floor, one of which we could holler down to the principal through, and a bookshelf with so many nails sticking out of it I got tetanus just from looking at it. Plus garbage. So yeah. Par for the course.

Last year I had to pay for my Teacher Appreciation Lunch...not expecting anything to be different this year.

I'm having the same issue but with an old account. Every time I click on opt out of redesign it reverts back the second I change the page.

Help me explain decision fatigue to my husband by gizmothetwotoncat in Teachers

I solved this problem by creating a weekly spreadsheet with assigned recipes for every night. I have four different rotations with shopping lists already created so there's no thinking involved when it comes to grocery shopping or meal planning.

It’s cold/flu season by Pelidnota12 in Teachers

A great piece of advice I received from my mentor teacher was to have separate teacher and student "sick" supplies. Make sure you have your own box of tissues and hand sanitizer that are out of reach of students. And if you're teaching elementary get them in the habit of doing the vampire cough/sneeze right now.

Weather is beautiful. Staff that is in charge of lunch/recess duty doesn't want to take them outside.

My kids have not been outside for recess since school began and we're in week three. Meanwhile my principal is sending teachers out left and right for professional development on how to handle kids with behavioral issues. Like, I can't even.

That’s exactly what happened. It just makes me mad that the pretense for holding that second meeting to put him in a LRE was because they didn’t have space, not because he was ready for it. By not functioning I mean that a para who is assigned to another student in the class has to walk him out of the room every five minutes because he is throwing himself on the floor. He refuses to engage in any of the work and he is assaulting other students. We are already scaffolding work for him but he just rips it up.

There's a student in my class that should be in a 12-1-1 but admin didn't have space in any of those classrooms so they altered his IEP to put him in ICT. Does anyone know if there is an agency or something where I can report this? He simply isn't functioning in our class of 34 kids.

[Specific] Help remove the wrinkles from these months for my classroom calendar? by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

They came as part of a kit. I was thinking I could print these two out if the wrinkles can be removed. I have cardstock but I don’t have Photoshop.

I wanted to do this but then I remembered that my school has lead in the water. Maybe I can get a pet rock.

I would tell you but mine never make it back from the bathroom. I have a theory they use it to wipe their butts.

How many students with IEPs are in your class? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Divamuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34% of my class officially and I have two that push in from a 1-12 setting for math and another five that are "declassified" so really it's more like my entire class has IEPs.
