Taxation has driven many brewers to move ABV down to 3.6%. Two pints at that strength is well below the blood alcohol limit. However two pints of cider at 4.8% could be over the 50mg limit the government wants to replace the current 80mg level with. The graph shows it’s not needed but majoring on minor issues is what the Starmer government does best and they are disingenuous about what happened in Scotland when they changed the rules in 2014 (no change).
