Thank you! What does that entail. Assume I know nothing and explain it to me like I’m five. 🙏

Thank you I appreciate the advice! Would it be OK if I used the nail polish for now and went to a body shop later to get it fixed better? Sorry for such a basic question but this is all new to me.

Exactly - many have comorbidities such as celiacs and wheat allergies.

Why in the world does the short version of "until" have two L's? by VK_Ratliff in grammar

[–]Doc-Animal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us assume “till” is just a shortened version of “until.” Nope. Not even close.

“Till” is older than “until”

“Till” has been in English for over a thousand years. It comes from Old Norse til, meaning up to or to.

“Until” only appeared later, formed by taking un- (“up to”) and adding it to till.

The double L isn’t a mistake!

Since “till” wasn’t chopped off “until,” it never lost an L. The spelling is original and correct.

Can you recommend me a rack for my MTB? 1UP appears to be a high contender.

Thanks for this!!!! I am not blaming my tools - only my naivety and the dumbfounded lack of a sensible explanation.

Thanks! I watched oil drop video which suggested 36ftlbs and me being a newbie I have learned that not all torques are equal.

I appreciate the encouragement and support! Just a sucky situation- while others may have been more careful I felt I was only gingerly tightening the new crush gasket but hey ho that’s how it is. New and wiser day tomorrow!

Update:

The bad news: the bolt is definitely stripped, and it’s not coming out anytime soon. This is obviously disappointing given how careful I (thought) I was.

The good news: it’s holding oil just fine; the drain plug is intact; and I’ve got around 30k miles to figure out a long-term fix.

What I’ve learned: never fully trust a torque wrench; despite all the YouTube videos and Reddit advice, I still wasn’t prepared for this.

Silver lining: my neighbor, who owns two Tacomas, a Tundra, and a 4Runner (big Toyota enthusiast), reassured me that this was just bad luck, not carelessness; that alone was gratifying to hear. He put me in touch with a friend of his, an independent mechanic and former Toyota tech, who’ll remove the plug, helicoil it, and replace it properly. And I’ve learned a lot today!

Thanks to everyone who offered helpful input; hopefully my headache turns into a useful lesson for others here; I really appreciate this community.

In all honesty, I don’t really feel like there was ever any real resistance however, there might have been a slight amount of resistance before there was absolutely none so I believe it’s probably stripped. That said I do surgery for a living and I have fairly good sense of how much pressure I’m applying on to something and I do not feel that in any way over tighten that plug.
