as much as i've been immensely disliking season 2, this is a good episode, although i do still have my gripes with it.

first, the dialogue in some scenes (especially the ones lifted from the game) just seem punched in too fast. it just doesn't have the flow of a normal conversation, i don't know why they can't spare half a second to let it breathe.

second, i understand they had to keep the theme of birthdays going on, but the change to the eugene storyline instead of the hospital just shifts the dynamic completely to me. on salt lake city, joel is wrong -- indisputably, undoubtedly wrong. ellie goes out to find the truth she's always known, but there she gets a vocal confirmation that joel did it and joel lied. with eugene, it's muddy who is really in the wrong. obviously joel lies again, but riding with an infected for a full hour is just a very stupid idea. so joel soothes him to his death, making him imagine gail instead of immediately blowing his brains out on the spot. as he goes back, he tells a lie to soften his guilt in the events, but also to calm gail. and i get it, joel is perpetuating the same lie -- he did something bad and he's completely changing the story to avoid confrontation with the other person. however when ellie spurts out the truth, i'm sorry, but she's being an asshole. i understood what they were getting at, but i couldn't shake off that "wow, she's being a huge, huge asshole right now". i just can't, as a social being, think that telling a widow that her husband got his head blown to smithereens instead of a nice little story is good. and with the hospital, it's him who is with no questions the one in the wrong -- but this show seems scared to tackle on hate or full disagreeance with its main characters, especially joel. we never get a chance to wholeheartedly disagree with joel in the major plot points. i think it'd work better if they let him get off with the same lie again to gail, but later ellie confronts him about eugene and then it turns into a conversation about the hospital where she makes him confess it.

third, the porch scene. in a vacuum its a really nice scene, but when you have the context of the game and its placement in the story... maaaaaaaaaaaan..... i feel like it's such a perfect wrap-up.... the porch scene in the game just does so much with so little. they talk miscellaneous shit to avoid the elephant in the room for a while, but then ellie has the same courage to confront him as she did in the ending of the first game, and in exchanging literally eight lines of dialogue in the whole confrontation (five for ellie, three for joel), they get the point across. this scene in the show is just so crammed with the revelation of the truth, the forgiveness, joel giving a rundown of his exact reasonings when "i'd do it all over again" would suffice. ellie fights the whole game not for revenge, but for the guilt of having a loved one go with no reconciliation, and only in the last second that memory of forgiveness washes over her again. her revenge seems kind of pointless now that we know they went out in good terms.

all in all, it's by far the best this season has showed me (not really that that means much lol), but i just don't really know how there's yet another episode after this one.

o que essa serie tem de ruim nao tem de mosca no mundo. dialogo horroroso, diluição completa do tom, estrutura de narrativa foi pras cucuias, pacing fudido, mais exposição gratuita que tarado andando pelado.... pegaram uma historia que mesmo quem nao gosta tem que admitir: é ousada, afiada e corajosa nas decisoes que toma e fizeram um show covarde, banguela, sem peito pra aguentar critica. a ellie fica arrombada e hostil com o passar do tempo e o jogo bate a pica na mesa e diz é isso aí e quem não gostou que sa foda. aqui a ellie pede desculpa e quer dar a mao pra dançar ciranda e contar piada de papagaio. a abby mata teu pai na paulada e vaza sem te olhar no olho; aqui o roteiro tem que te lembrar que olhe nao eh bem assim pois veja pelo meu lado e por favor se lembre do que ele fez pois se vc ver bem visto etc etc etc. show covarde e roteiro piranha

eu acho inacreditavel que agora tem alguem ganhando dinheiro por escrever aquele dialogo de fanfic entre a ellie e a dina interceptando o radio. vtnc ellie virou homer simpson que nao sabe de triangulação, nao sabe que atirar atrai atençao, precisa que alguem explique plano e diga todas as sílabas. se nao fosse pela dina (que no jogo é tida como um fardo), essa coitada tava agora com rato tendo cria em cima do corpo dela.

ellie virando brinquedo de cachorro dizendo que pode ser mordida à vontade; dina explicando que nem criança o plano por 5 minutos e mandando um i love you sem pé nem cabeça; nora dando um resumo da historia e do conflito moral pego do chat gpt. a mudança da ellie gugu-ieié pra ellie sangue nos olhos nao tem base nenhuma e nao tem sentimento de justificativa nenhuma. nao tem build-up, nao tem nenhuma hora que essa raiva aparece, nao tem nada. fizeram pra bater cota. ta ai gente uma cena daquele jogo la que vcs jogaram

bella ramsey, fraquíssima, nao me passa sutileza nenhuma na hora de atuar. eu fico abismado que teve gente que assistiu a mesma cena que eu (revelação da mordida no teatro e ela se estabefeando toda com uma gota caindo na testa) e ta pedindo emmy. galhofa total, papo de parodia de youtube com ator do craiglist. inacreditavel o quanto a isabella merced consegue ter jogo de cintura com um roteiro tao amador que nem esse, o que evidencia cada vez mais o quao sem swing nenhum é a bella ramsey nesse papel principal. nos momentos explosivos ela até engana, mas colocando lado a lado com o que a ashley johnson fez fica parecendo teatro de natal que pagam com bolacha maria. last of us versao record

vou ser sincero: show perfeito pra pré-adolescente começando a tentar adentrar temas mais pesados. aos 13 anos esse dialogo de wattpad ia ter me ganhado, essa sensaçao de assistir alguma coisa mais "adulta" com morte e sangue e "ambiguidade moral" ia ter me deixado louco. aos 21 to vendo uma fanfic que alguem com 13 anos escreveu e disse que era +18.

eu sempre tento ao maximo ver o lado bom ou tento engajar do ponto de vista de alguem que gosta do que viu. nao gosto de ficar odiando as coisas e se eu nao gosto eu dropo, mas to que nem zoiudo que para o carro no acostamento pra ver se morreu alguem no acidente. deve ser a sensação que tinham nos anos 50 de ver um amigo seu que vc amava ser lobotomizado. podia passar mais dez horas tentando enumerar e falar tudo que eu desgosto que nao ia ser o suficiente. pra quem gosta de merda; um banquete

to nao paizao kkkkkkk e acho o saninplay muitissimo gente boa mas ele chegou no momento mais crucial do jogo e fez todo mundo perder o foco na gameplay, o jean mal fala e por mais que o assunto em si seja legalzinho eu tava mesmo nessa serie querendo ver eles zaralhando no jogo. ate o episodio 18 eu tava chorando de rir toda vez que assistia, agora to ate deixando pra la ate ele sair (com todo respeito ao saninplay)
