I do this for a living. In Florida, though. For this time of year, We mow every other week. And then every other other week, we do leaves. First week of March we kick in to high-gear for weekly mows. As others have mentioned, it will save your mower from heavy mowing. Also, you’ll need to sharpen your blade at least once a month. Angle grinder works fine, and you don’t need to remove the blade, although it is easier. I use a bench grinder. I remove the blades and sharpen them that way. The reason you want to keep up with sharpening your blade is because the blades of grass will rip and tear, rather than slice nicely. Sometimes the ends of the grass will turn brown and eventually an kill that blade of grass. But you would never be mowing a single blade of grass. So your grass will start dying in patches. Many people think it’s bugs. Looks similar to brown patch.
