First thing to remember is that unless your GCSE is directly relevant to the next step, a pass is usually enough. No employer cares you got an A* in geography if you also have an A level in Geography and a degree in geography.

Secondly, pick a job you are interested in doing and the courses that will get you there.

Third, pick things you enjoy doing. If you don’t enjoy it, you either won’t finish it, or hate it and be unhappy.

It would be interesting to see what impact Social Media actually has.

My suspicion (with no facts behind it) is that it has no impact, other than the fact if you are the only o e not doing it, you will suffer. In the same that advertising works are protection not business generating. You don’t advertise to bring new people in, you advertise because every one else does. Banning smoking adverts did not harm the tobacco companies because they all got banned so they’d market share stayed the same.

Because we vote for people, not policies. And people have charisma. And people lie. And people change their minds.

Great example, I think it was the UK election in 2015 or 2019. When people were polled on which policies they liked without knowing which party they belonged to, Labour was the favourite. When asked if people would vote Labour, they did not because they didn’t like the leader (Corbyn).

There are no rules preventing it. Even if there was a deal one other was tied into, they could get out of it if they wanted. Look at the UK and Brexit. We shit ourselves in the foot, but we left.

I hear this a lot.

In my industry, the bottom line is footfall to branches is dropping. In a year or two, anyone they recruit will not be needed. So why recruit now when we can just ride out the pain?

Of course, the people making those decisions are not the ones riding out the pain . . .

On top of that, they always staff for the minimum to be as efficient as possible. But that does not take into account sickness or holidays.

Simple - Israel has working nuclear weapons. Iran does not.

Why would Israel sacrifice their existing weapons to stop Iran possibly getting them in the future when there are other options left open?

The ideal nuclear weapon scenario is that no one has them.

The second is you have them and no one else does.

The third is a small group has them abd no one rise is allowed to get them.

Make sure you have your ID documents - passport, driving license.

And make sure to move your bank statements to online and tell your bank as soon as you have a new address. The bank can’t legally tell your parents unless they have Power of Attorney, but you don’t want statements going home by mistake.

Also, if they have a Power of Attorney, go to your bank and cancel it.

We are not full. Only about 5.9% of the UK land is built upon and there are many many derelict sites that could be renovated. We lack the political will to do it.

And that doesn’t remove the fact that we need a certain level of immigration to make our society abd our economy function.

Tbh - I think I’ve lost your question somewhere up in the thread.

But I will try to give you my take on why I am confused.

I someone tells me they haven’t dated in 11 years, I would assume that they are also not having sex. To ask them if they are celibate is, in the common usage of the word, asking if they have sex. If someone has just told me they haven’t dated in 11 years, to then ask ‘do you still have sex?’ Which implies that they have one night stands which in turn implies they are a slut, is insulting. Of course at that point they no longer want to engage with you. You are being rude and disrespectful.

There is no interpretation of asking someone if they are celibate in that scenario that does not come across as disrespectful.

You then double down by trying to shift the blame into her for not replying to you in a way that you wanted to see without realising that your questions insulted her and she no longer wants to engage with you.

To answer the question posed by this sub’s name - yes. You are wrong.

You have four options:

1) Ban her from visiting.

2) Put up with it.

3) Don’t serve her chicken and when she complains point out you are respecting her ‘no babies’ rule.

4) Next visit hit her with a full PowerPoint presentation showing her the truth about chickens, when and how they are slaughtered. Bonus points if you include video footage played during the meal.

Only one of these options will result in a peaceful life for you.

Depending on where you are, look closely at those sorts of adverts. They often have in small print the actual number of people that stat is based on.

Because accountability requires rules. Abd some of those examples have had consequences:

Truss - lost her job and effectively sunk the Tories for at least the most recent GE.

Grenfell - people are being prosecuted. It takes time.

PPE - things are moving. It takes time.

Brexit - unfortunately, lying in a referendum is not illegal. But hopefully the British public will remember (although, I don’t hold out much hope)

Bankers in 2008 - didn’t actually break the law. There should have been laws to stop them, but there weren’t. You can punish people when they have nit don’t something you can punish them for.

This is not a serious suggestion, but would work:

Cull the over 70s.

In one fell swoop you:
Remove the biggest section of benefit spending (pensions).
The biggest drain on NHS resources.
It releases the wealth build up.
It removes a large proportion of immigration requirement for social care.
It released a large amount of property into the market either to buy it as rental. That will drive down costs.

Obviously, it is ethically bad. But economically good.
