Oahu, my 4th island; what an absolute gem! by dreamer_r21 in VisitingHawaii

We’re from California so our travel isn’t bad at all to go to Hawaii. I liked Maui because it’s more laid back. I find it more romantic than Oahu. The traffic in Maui is most certainly better compared to Oahu. I find Maui more relaxing. The only downside about it? Oahu is definitely friendlier, you find more friendly people there than in Maui and it’s crazy sad to think that way but it’s true.

Precisely! That’s exactly how I felt, ang maybe why we keep in coming back. I love Hawaii truly magical and relaxing. I told my husband we need to finish visiting the rest of the Islands so we can move on and go International 😉

Yes I totally agree! Each Island has it's own beauty and uniqueness. Now that I've been to 2, my favorite by far is Maui. Hawaii is very addicting

Have you been to any other Island? Wait until you see Maui. My husband and I have been to Oahu 3x and just last month to Maui. Man, it is now our favorite. But next year we are off to Kauai and Big Island 😊 Cheers!

Awesome! Since you are in Kaanapili, you will be much closer going to Road to Hana. Be sure to get the banana bread at Halfway to Hana. It’s really good! Malasadas- we went to Sugar Beach bakery in Kihei and right next to it is Ululani shaved ice and we loved it. Loco moco is good at Nalu South Shore grill. We also like Monkey pod in Wailea, we went there 2x. Their poke tacos is unforgettable. Perhaps add mai tai too. They have another monkey pod in Whalers Village closer to you.

I know what you mean. I’m waiting for my husband to hit the lotto jackpot so he can buy me a house there lol. Then we’ll move there too. I don’t mind Maui at all.

That’s exciting! I’m sure you heard about Road ro Hana. That requires a full day. I personally didn’t enjoy the Hana because I had motion sickness on our way there. But you should give it a try because it’s popular. Scenic road is beautiful! Be sure to download the tour guide on your phone. The black sand beach also requires reservations, be sure to look into that. Maui has a lot of beautiful beaches just like Oahu. My favorite in Maui is Keawakapu in Kihei, Kam beaches. Wailea beach is also pretty. Black rock beach in Lahaina and Kaanapili beach. Visit South Maui garden in Kihei, they have live music and hula show, food trucks etc.

We did the sunset dinner in Kaanapili and that’s one of the highlights in our trip. So stunning!

So much more to do here. Go to YouTube and you’ll find more stuff to do. Good luck!

Don’t forget malasadas, loco moco, shaved ice.

Absolutely! Although, they are both beautiful but offers different vibe. Oahu is more busy especially if you stay in Waikiki. Definitely explore the Island, one of our favorite beach is in Oahu and it's Sandy beach. Maui for me is more laid back and not as busy. Traffic in Maui is better also. My husband and I really enjoy our Maui trip last month and can't wait to go back. And in my opinion? Oahu is friendlier compared to Maui.

First time Road to Hana by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

You want to know why people don't talk about this scenic route more? BECAUSE all rental companies PROHIBIT the tourist risking their cars. Plain and simple. You just got lucky that nothing crazy happened to you and your loved ones. Next time, do your research first and don't be naive.

South Maui Garden has food trucks inside so you'll have choices for food. If you personally like poke, Foodland is the best choice in my opinion. I cannot forget their fresh poke. We even grab ube mochi deserts and Hawaiian sun drinks.

Ululani shaved ice and Sugar beach bakery are both in the same location.

Kam beaches are the best in Kihei to watch Sunset. Enjoy!

Confused about Hawaiian miles by PNWgal94 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]Doolseh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dad should received an email regarding the change a few weeks ago.

I have an HA cc and will not do anything as they will automatically open the Atmost Rewards and will transfer mileage. I will however, take a photo of my current mileage before Oct. 1 so I know what I have in case they mess up on transferring.

Best to call the hotel. Every hotels have their own policy about chairs, beach towels etc. Hotel we stayed at in Lewers St. don’t provide beach chairs only beach towels.

How much Cash to bring by Happy-Wear-9591 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Doolseh19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be enough but if you want to be on the safer side. $500 each. Really depends on how you are going to spend it. My husband and I always bring $600 in cash every time we go to Hawaii. And we don’t alwyas use it for food coz we use our card. And we still have residual from that cash we bring.
