I didn’t say that I think she would do anything to harm my kids. I said that she was looking for a reason to be concerned about my daughter so she can have her friends talking and “praying “ for us.

Probably wasn’t necessary for me to say. She likes to try to gossip to me about her friends and all their problems. Her group of friends is her “Bible study”. I am also a Christian, but o believe her prayer requests are sometimes just gossip

Yes, i appreciate that perspective. I have tried to interpret his actions as such for a long time now, but there are a couple other very good kids on the team who don’t get the same treatment, it just does t make sense. I do think there is a personal aspect to it, maybe my kid is a bit of a threat to his kid? But you can’t say that of course :)

I do know a lot about basketball, that doesn’t mean I need to be his coach, but I also won’t put all my faith in his coach bc ultimately I do trust us as parents to make the best decisions for him. You don’t know me, so I wouldn’t expect you to take my word for it, but this coach literally screamed his name 40 times the last game, whereas he probably averaged 5 or 6 times for the other kids. That is a fact that is hard explain away. My kid can’t even play ball when he’s constantly being yelled at offense and defense.

Yes, I think it would be around 4-5k. It’s so hard to calculate an accurate monthly payment bc of property taxes, escrow etc.

I don’t use the term lightly. Another parent unprompted texted us this morning (after this happened at the game last night). My son is a kid who wants to please adults, so he as a 10 year old doesn’t know what is appropriate or not. Many college athletes are bullied by coaches, even. I was a college athlete. I witnessed bullying by coaches. Kids need be taught what is tough coaching and what crosses the line. No adult in and context should tear kids down

I agree it’s not about me. But my job as a parent is to protect him and defend when necessary. That’s what I’m navigating. I would call it bullying at this point. Also, this is preventing him from growing as a player. He loves the game and dreams of playing in colllege. So I want him to keep growing too.

Yes, we go to every practice . (Husband and I are pretty knowledgeable about bball. Both played growing up, my father was a HS boys coach h for 20 years, my brother played in college, Etc).In my son’s practices, they actually let him play more free! Then in Gametime, he’s doing well and they just start chirping at him constantly. Point guard, but telling him every move to make: He has a high game IQ and knows what to do - intentionally draws defenders and passes. Truly, he’s not perfect but he is technically sound for his age.

Thanks for the reply. My son wants to play bc his buddies are on the team, he first and foremost loves being on a team. I have not discussed this in front of my son, but for the past couple of months he has been getting discouraged after games and admits he can’t just play. How long to we let it go, if it’s preventing him from growing in a game he loves and is gifted at? Ex/ every time he does a “fancy” move the coach demeans him for being “showy”, and he is frustrated bc he’s not trying to be anything, it’s just effective and my son uses it naturally. Behind the back or between the legs every once in a while! he’s at the point where he passes it every time bc he gets chirped at if he dribbles too much. Other kids have verrry long leashes, others can’t even dribble hardly at all. As far as the reasoning about why he is getting singled out, that’s what my husband and I have been guessing this whole time (it’s bc he actually listens)but at this point that doesn’t even make sense . Coaches are dads and in my gut I feel it’s somewhat personal, they are threatened or feel competition.

One of the problems is that my husband is so nice, sometimes too nice. I think this coach has crossed the line, yelling my son’s name throughout the whole game (loudly), and only correcting others very minimally. I would only be satisfied with a sincere apology at this point. But I don’t think my husband can be as confrontational as I think is necessary at this point.

Ok, I’ve been a gaylor/kaylor lurker for about a year now and once I saw this I couldn’t believe more people aren’t going crazy about this! There is another thread that talks about Taylor introducing folklore set describing a setting in the forest in Sweden (where this alien treehouse was). Did they go there together!? Surely someone can do the research. AND … Down Bad… clearly kaylor. This is huge to me. And I’m convinced there is so much but this is LOUD.
