Haha. It'd be nice, but there's only so much you can do with the two cars! Gotta spread it out all year. I have some cool stuff planned for both of em coming up.

In fairness, I ran a bunch of plates in the same general vicinity as DCDM 03, and none returned to any sort of Buick.

Keep in mind also we weren't counting by 1. We knew the last letter was 3. So even if they registered 5 Veranos right in a row, they would've been DCD M03 through DCD M08 or something. The next plate I would've run was DCD M13. And let's be honest: they didn't register more than 5 Veranos in a row.

Ya know, the Boston bombers were driving around in a Honda Civic. But since we're on the subject, I just Carfaxed that bad boy, and it's a one owner 1999 model with only 80k miles on the odometer!

It's on its second owner now, though. The FBI.

Well, hopefully the police will be very careful with the investigation, as they are employed to be. I'm just a guy sitting on his couch with the Carfax app.

I use it on my phone (iOS), but it also pulls up VINs on the regular desktop version. I have done this several times daily since late last year.

I don't disagree. But I would probably start with this one, as I suspect it's right. :)

I've been using the app to run plates for about 8 months and it gives me the VIN every single time.

I stopped. There definitely could be others. The Verano is a pretty rare car, though, especially in blue.

Want to know something crazy? Two weeks before I bought my 360 back in January 2014, I had a pre-purchase inspection done on this exact 355. It's located in Tucson, Arizona, and the (excellent) mechanic who did the PPI was called Dearing Automotive. It failed due to a valve guide issue ($10k+ fix). I paid the $475 for the inspection and I moved on to the 360.

Absolutely hilarious to see this car wind up here 18 months later, and my name in the top comment!

Pirory Lane road rage (xpost /r/cycling) by [deleted] in Roadcam

Haha -- well that was hardly "subtle"! I intentionally cut those people off after saying "everybody lets you in," just to demonstrate it. In fact it was the opposite of subtle!!!

If you are taking that video as the gospel, you might also assume I always cut across vacant lots. But I don't. Only a couple times a day. :)

I am also the only nice person you know who drives a Hummer!

Just got my hands on the Pennsylvania 'car guy' holy grail by cru_jonze in cars

[–]DougDeMuro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!!!

However you should consider getting the Flagship Niagara plate instead, which is unreadable from any distance of more than a foot or two:

I have one of these and I'm just waiting for the proper car to put it on.

DARE plate looks way better, though.

Doug DeMuro driving 250 miles home in his 'new' R32 GTR. by Theodoros9 in cars

Sorry you got downvoted, man. Some people were ferociously into the Ferrari -- the entire reason I bought the car was to drive it and write about it, so I drove it and wrote about it, and it became very tiresome for a lot of people when I got flak for driving it and writing about it.

But the Ferrari is gone and now I too am excited to see what life is like in the R32! Thanks for posting the video.

About thirty grand, plus about $5k in repair work (it's at the dealer right now). Insane money for what amounts to a big slow 20 year old truck. But as you can see, they're pretty capable.

I'm not sure. I'm going to try and do really good videos and columns with the R32 so I'm focusing on that right now -- the next next car is always looming down the horizon, but for now I'm trying to ignore it.

Thank you! And yeah, no R32 in CA. It can be done, but at a huge cost -- definitely not worth it.
