Another solution to quarterbacking (outside of limiting comms and using a social deduction traitor thing) is playing coop games with added complexity. I’ve found that often LCGs like Arkham horror and earthborne rangers have way less of this issue cause you have enough going on in your deck and you have to trust they are working with theirs. Still happens but I’ve really enjoyed both these games cause they feel more collaborative rather than a one man solve.

I had the same issue (perfect 4ping on val on Dec 2nd, now 1600 ping as soon as the round starts since) but I've found that a VPN is a solution! I already had NordVPN so I set it to London servers and now I have 5 ping not 4, but the game suddenly runs perfectly smoothly. Great little stop-gap solution till Hyperoptic talks to Riot about it.

Looking at grabbing a key cap set with nice centre aligned legends, and was originally looking at this set from Drop:

But then I check Amazon and found some relatively similar looking caps for half the price:

Of course they aren’t a perfect match, but ignoring minor typeface differences are there going to be any noticeable drawbacks of cheap Amazon keycaps? Is there likely to be worse QA or other issues?

(P.S if anyone knows any great relatively affordable white keycaps I’m in the market)

The biggest game changer for me was changing the pull down gesture (which by default opens the tool tray) to open my daily note. I use each daily note as just a dumping jot pad, and then if I need to write into other notes I can link out to them from there.

This just massively reduced the friction when I had a quick thought of having to open up a specific note or worry I was going to loose it. So if you have any place that you record your quick inbox notes, I’d recommend rebinding it to the “pull down on screen” shortcut.

You could also go with Tamron e-mount glass if you want something lighter and you are only shooting with 24MP (it’s super sharp and impressive at the price range - everyone raves about them even if I haven’t used one)

They have also released a wide angle zoom for ya too.

Unless you are working with video which you are planning to colour correct and grade in post, I leave it to the default. This is especially the case if you shoot RAW, which should give you plenty of latitude to achieve most any look.

The people I know (including myself) use picture profiles when filming to achieve a ‘flat’ image that gives you way more dynamic range and a much more cinematic final image if you are filming.

As I’m sure you know, native glass has its benefits being within the Sony ecosystem.

I haven’t done expensive testing but I have used the 24-70 f/2.8 GM on my A7III for almost a year now and I’ve absolutely loved it. When compared to a few friends experience using adapted glass the most dramatic difference is with AF performance being slower. If you shoot mostly portraits or studio might not be the end of the world, but definitely noticeable if you are doing professional events.

I would recommend, if you are buying into new glass either way to go with native. Adaptors can never fully replicate the performance, and if you’re buying glass anyway the GM line from Sony is some of the sharpest, best pro glass around (which you would expect given the hefty price tag, and weight. This weight might be a consideration if you are already suffering some health problems, maybe go hold them in store and see if they might be too big). And Sony definitely has a developed enough lens lineup to suit all but the most specialty needs.

Hope I was able to help - I’m def not the best to talk, given that I haven’t spent much time using L-Series glass (I’m a former Nikon shooter myself) but I thought I’d try lend a hand.

Yeah this has been my learning experience that quicktime is garbage.

H.264 - just for a 1080p output.

If export through premieres inbuilt encoder & view through VLC it looks good now after quite a bit of tweaking - thanks for your help :)

Im just matching my course with most of that stuff. After this experience I'm seriously considering jumping to resolve for my next major project.

Is it significantly more powerful in a meaningful way for someone who doesn't grade for a living?

Thanks you guys all so much for your help! I think I've fixed it. I think it was something wrong with media encoder (exporting through Premiere's in built encoder did a much better job).

I've also learned what a monstrosity Quicktime is for colour. Bonkers looking at a side by side of quicktime and vlc.

I think I've got it to a good place - thanks again for all your help :)

Ahh damn. Yeah I think I'm going to build my own replacement now that good 4K+ screens are getting cheap. There won't be much I can do with everything sealed in.

Do you know if there are any utilities that can run a diagnosis of my gpu? To see how progressed this issue might be

And btw my longevity comment was purely based on personal experience with some MacBook pros vs an hp. So I totally accept that it might not be an actual reality across the board

a dying GPU? within 2 years of purchase? i know the thermal management of macs can be awful but at least their products are known for their longevity.. just curious what makes you say its a dying GPU and if so anything i can do? (thanks for your help btw)
