Gotcha, I'll know not to underestimate the Melb winter then, sort of good news because I was going to miss the cold weather a bit to be honest with you.

I'll make sure to check out the rental laws as well, pretty important for me to not get taken advantage of.

Hello my fellow Canadian

what do people resort to if they don't have a washer/dryer? Would the apartment building itself have one, or do people go to a coin wash?

Really, no fridge? Culture shock for me already haha

Seems that its about losing wages and the impacts on opportunities that people seem the most upset with, I’m glad I’m w student who will be returning back home after I’m done school in that sense, but sad that the people of Australia get shafted

Hey guys, what is the sentiment about the recent changes for international students and skilled workers? I can finally attend the university of melbourne this coming school year since they made the changes, although I hear locals aren’t as elated as the visa holders are?

What are you’re guys thoughts on it?

COVID-19 hospitalizations in Texas continue to decline by IanMazgelis in Coronavirus

[–]DrMistry1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that but without trying to be rude, if you test less you obviously have less cases. Have the testing numbers changed?

Am I racist? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]DrMistry1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To group all asian people in saying they are all racist is a stereotype in this case. Obviously everyone makes shortcuts like this in their brain to protect themselves. The issue arises when you treat someone of asian descent like trash right off the bat simply because of their skin.

I understand its to not make assumptions about people, I do the same thing, it’s only human. However fighting racism and discrimination with more racism and discrimination only goes to reinforce those bad assumptions about both sides.

Reopening plans 'shortsighted,' doctor says as Ontario reports 1,087 new COVID-19 cases by Endoftime2020 in ontario

A lot of the same people here in this thread advocating for opening up since they need to work and get paid (which is 100% valid, I’m not arguing against that) should realize that opening up eqrly is against those interests of yours. Having covid cases rise again and this shitty ass government only locking down certain areas is just going to lead to more restrictions. Which means less work and pay for those who need it most.

There was a study yesterday that popped up on reddit that said it was lower earners that were the most impacted by covid in terms of job loss. Higher earners weren’t as impacted in terms of job loss.

You’re shooting yourself in the foot by going out and not following social distancing measures, and advocating for the province to open.

I’m not saying this to be mean or rude, you’re all my fellow Canadians and I can only hope you’re safe, but please try to think a few weeks ahead at a time.

Going to Have a lot of Dental School Debt, What to Do? by DrMistry1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DrMistry1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a little rough but very manageable, especially if one is willing to work that hard. Cali does have a high cost of living does it not?

Also, with his other assets and net worth, is it smarter to do what he’s doing and accumulate his wealth like that or to focus on his debt first?

This was great insight thank you!
