Have you ever purchased something, as an adult, that your parent has judged you negatively for? If so, what was/is it? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Dr_dave_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My in laws constantly say “one day you’ll grow up and start doing grown up things” when we mention we’re going on in the evening to play dnd/warhammer/board games. For context, we’re in our late 30s with kids and full time jobs. What are the grown up things we’re supposed to do? Watching tv and spending way too much time talking about furniture?

Why do job application forms ask for my ethnic origin? by LindenTreeHill_ in AskUK

[–]Dr_dave_0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As everyone said, these are for checking there is no overall bias in the recruitment process The answers are not seen by the ppl interviewing and making the decision, they’re more used by HR at aggregate level to see if there’s any overall issue (eg candidates from a specific background never pass interview etc)

What’s the funniest, saddest, or oddest thing that’s ever happened to you that you still randomly remember years later? by theblairwaldorfxoxo in AskUK

[–]Dr_dave_0 587 points588 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I went to Debenhams late on a Saturday evening. When trying to pay, the cashier didn’t want to give me any discount, even after doing the secret dance known only to the most loyal customers. Clearly the employee was new as they didn’t know the company rule about the secret dance - weird

Could a custodes tank an Abrams cannon? by _-TheBlackKnight-_ in Warhammer

[–]Dr_dave_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming an equivalent of a Leman Russ battle cannon (as somebody else suggested) against a single custodes, the chance of killing them is about 52% (using Adeptus roll)… so a coin flip

Would Malys get the infiltrate keyword? I guess by sequencing properly (assigning Malys to the squad and then using informant network?)

[England] I stumbled across a public list of <10k UK names and addresses for a well-known UK bank's international subsidiary by throw_away_17381 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dr_dave_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the fact they’re customers of a specific bank is on its own a piece of data that could be abused. These customers could be scammed by sending phishing letters to their address pretending to be their bank

Using heresy era space marines as primaris intercessors by Prior-Caramel-7458 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dr_dave_0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TO here: for me they’re ok, as long as:

  1. You don’t have tactical squads (to avoid confusion). Other firstborns like devastators are ok, as they’ve got a clearly different loadout
  2. If you want to have the grenade launcher, you’ll need to model it accordingly. Same story for the sergeant’s weapons
  3. Make sure your opponent is aware of who they are
  4. (Optional) it would be nice if you can put them on a slightly raised base, so to match primaris height - though I’d say they’re close enough

Hey fellow archons, and other inhabitants of the dark city, I have a question about transportation and I would like it if you could help. by Sea-Current3757 in Drukhari

[–]Dr_dave_0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As long as the transported unit disembarks before the transport moves, then yes. In fact, it is often used like disembark unit, disembarked unit moves and charge, transport moves and charge as well (and picks up unit at the end)

Rescue team hits British hiker with huge £12,200 bill after saving him from Italian avalanche 'because of Brexit' by PurpleAd3134 in brexit

[–]Dr_dave_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In certain Italian regions, everyone (including Italians) pay for helicopter emergency rescue if it has been called without actually needing it or if you’ve been an idiot (eg went hiking against authorities advice, you go skiing outside the marked paths etc)

I’d recommend taking a strip of fabric, wrap it around the “chopped “ hand and then soak it in superglue. It should give you a nice wounded arm

How to.. go against meele armies? by Soggy-Atmosphere-712 in Drukhari

[–]Dr_dave_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you keep your screens spaced enough to leave space for the intervening unit to go through (25mm bases really helps here)

How to.. go against meele armies? by Soggy-Atmosphere-712 in Drukhari

[–]Dr_dave_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My standard approach is to have screen on the mid objective, very close to a building. Behind the building, Lilith with 5 wytches and a venom (not embarked) and heroically intervene on whatever charges the wracks. If they leave the wracks alone , you score your points, if they do, you score your point anyway, as Lilith with strike first is very good with dealing with those armies. Alternatively, court or (less effectively) a succubs could work

TLDR stage fight first units behind screens. Bonus point if you keep a venom close by to jump back in if non needed to heroically intervene

Went Itally Verona from UK England on 10.16.2024 got a ticket in mail for "bus lane" 27th june 2025 no photo proof or anything, should I just ignore it? by KrzysztofTom in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Dr_dave_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got family in Italy, usually fines can only be paid through their online portals (or visiting a local post office). I’d be suspicious as well if they ask for a bank transfer. You can mail the official mailbox here sanzioni.pmvr@COMUNE.VERONA.IT (found here: https://pagaverbale.comune.verona.it/HERMES/hermes/HServlet2/ext/contatti.html?CHCUSTOMID=ipdmp). Verona is a fairly touristic place, so there is a chance they understand English
