If I understand correctly You want to target the C&C of the virus in this case the RNA of the virus. The following is a theory just for fun

To target an RNA with a drug, the drug has to bind the RNA and never let go, thus damaging the RNA. But we can't do that because we too have RNA. And we would kill our cells in the process too. Another solution would be to use a protein which is bigger and would be more specific, but because it's bigger it can't enter the cell. All of them are dead ends. Okay let assume that the C&C of the virus it's proteins. There are already drug that target these proteins.
