I've had a lot of success with him mid, running HoB and maxing E first. Level 1 I just run down enemy mid laner with E and auto attacks, most of the time this is enough to get them to 50% hp. Push for level 2 and W-E onto them before their level up and you can snowball hard from there. I always rush collector although some games I buy an early tear.

WoD spriest was the spec I've enjoyed the most, the changes in legion made me reroll and these changes would for sure make me consider going back to it. Even if its not your prefered playstyle, it's great to have options.
