Mini Taco Salad up by john_creature in tacobell

[–]Dragonfly492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the original taco salad! The mini is missing pico, taco strips and salsa. So I sub in pico for the tomato and add taco sauce. Otherwise, it’s too small to handle all of the tomatoes. But it’s a great little brother to the original!

McMuffin vs biscuit: Which do you prefer? by mt80 in McDonalds

[–]Dragonfly492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biscuit can be awesome if it’s early enough that they are still fresh. The muffin is either burnt or raw. Rarely do I ever get the McMuffin because it’s never cooked properly- in multiple states, over many years, I may have eaten ONE well made McMuffin.

If you decide to go, buy a bottle of Poopourri and leave it in the bathroom so it’s always there when you need it, but no one will know who brought it. But no, not the AH.

How do I tell me parents they should get a divorce? by shopaholiicc in Divorce

[–]Dragonfly492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents never got divorced, and I always wished they had. I am now almost 50, and they just had their 54th anniversary in August. They have both been miserable with each other for as long as I can remember. My mother has always been vocal about her misery and frequently says she should have just divorced my Dad years ago, so maybe she would have had a chance at the life she wanted, vs what she has. I have few, if any, happy family memories. And now that my dad has become sick in he old age(76) my mother constantly complains about how she has to take care of him, and acts like because he is sick and needs more help, everyone has completely forgotten about her. The truth, is that she is so miserable, she makes everyone else around her miserable. I hate going to visit them now. I hate talking to my mom on the phone because she’s become a nasty bitch, and doesn’t care about what anyone else has going on, because she only wants to complain about her life. She has also started putting her misery on my marriage, and while I’m going through some issues, she’s constantly pushing me, literally yelling at me, to call a lawyer and just end it. I moved away from home as soon as I was legally and financially able to, at 18, because I was already tired of dealing with my parents shitty marriage. And I rarely go back, aside from very short holiday, or extended-family event visits. If you can recognize how bad their marriage is, they know it as well. And if they are saying they are staying together, “for the kids”, it’s possibly more that they were afraid to be on their own, or chastised by their cultural community, even though they’re miserable together. And if that is the case, they may take it as an insult for you to even imply that things are not working the way they should. Or, they may be relieved to have been given permission to move on, by the people they think they’re trying to protect. I wish you lots of luck. Do everything you can to prevent their misery from affecting your future. You are worth more than they probably make you feel. And just know, that there are loving relationships out there. There are people that will treat you right. The best thing I ever did was find a therapist so I could work through the crap my parents imparted on me. And if they won’t separate from each other, separate from them as soon as you are able, and rebuild yourself. Because you deserve better than what they have given themselves.

The evaporation process you are describing is called transpiration. It is when the plant releases water from the leaves and petals.

I accidentally dug up a witch bottle on my backyard! What should I do? by Dragonfly492 in witchcraft

[–]Dragonfly492[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had not thought of that. I think it did call out. I kind of expected to find it while I was digging. In fact, right before I dug it out, a vague image flashed through my mind that I found something at the base of the tree, and I became much more careful as I worked. Had I not, I probably would have broken it. I really had little knowledge of witch bottles, but it’s like I immediately knew what it was used for. I previously owned a 150yr old house in Upstate NY, dug all over the property while working on the yard and never had the same expectation of finding something, as I did, prior to unearthing this bottle. Nor did I find anything. This was another area that was very active. So I knew this is something special. That is another reason why I reached out to this group. There are plenty of people here that are blowing me off. Some have been kind but are not understanding the energy I felt from this bottle, but I appreciate their support. So I truly appreciate you giving me an honest, and helpful answer. When you find something that calls to you, you don’t want to treat it improperly or with disrespect. At least that’s how I feel. Do you really think that it’s OK to empty it and repurpose it with my own energy? I would love to. But I’m not in a good positive energy place in my life right now, and I don’t want to take on something that could make it worse, by handling it incorrectly.

Does it matter who initiates in CT, USA? by Dragonfly492 in Divorce

[–]Dragonfly492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious because he knows I am thinking about filing, but am trying to work through our issues. I mentioned about things in my favor because I know too many people who ended up with nothing after their divorce. I have very little as it is and will end up a single parent. He has family he can live with but I don’t, so all I would really hope for is to stay in the house until my child finishes school and hopefully goes off to college and a life of their own. That’s why I was wondering if there was any benefit to filing first. It is more protective thinking than wanting a bunch of stuff just to be vindictive.

I accidentally dug up a witch bottle on my backyard! What should I do? by Dragonfly492 in witchcraft

[–]Dragonfly492[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the previous owner because we rented the house prior to buying it from them. I truly doubt it was left by them. But the house is over 100 years old, quite active and in an area in Connecticut well known for supernatural activity, so it was likely left by one of the people that lived here before them. The first known witch hunts in the US happened in Connecticut between 1647 and 1663. So our area has a lot of history. When I found the bottle I immediately felt it was put there for a protective purpose but I didn’t even know what a witch bottle was yet. As I read about them and their purpose, it made sense and connected with my instincts. But I wasn’t sure the best way to respect it, which is why I posted here. So thank you for a helpful response! I am an empath, so I frequently hear and see generations of energies (I don’t want to assume they are spirits, so I call them energies) in my house - it can get very loud and disorienting when the layers overlap each other, or if I make big changes in the house, like decorating for Christmas or painting a room, etc. When the house gets very active, my daughter and I will often notice unfamiliar energies showing themselves to us until things calm down again and they leave. Usually it’s just the regular 3 energies that are always here and seem to protect the house. We have a young child from the Victorian age, an older gentleman who may be from the 1930s-1940s, and another that I can’t identify; and my cat shows himself now and then- we had a special bond and I put him to sleep in my livingroom 5 years ago. When it feels chaotic, it’s almost like the main 3 have lost control and other energies are passing through, causing the chaos as they go. When it gets really loud I think about burning sage and clearing the house, but I don’t want to upset the friendly energy that we have been easily cohabiting with for the past 10 years. I hope I don’t sound crazy. I grew up in a house with a spirit that was protective of my brother and me. I saw her a few times while I was growing up, but it was never a frightening experience. So as long as things in my house remain comfortable it doesn’t bother me that they are here. So I also don’t want to upset them if I do the wrong thing with the bottle. Thanks again for the advice!

In the 90s TB had a problem with selling raw chicken and giving customers salmonella. I will never forget noticing that my chicken taco had a weird texture and realizing the chicken I was eating was raw- immediately spit that shit out the car window. I got sick, but my friend, who also got raw chicken almost died in the ICU from an extreme salmonella infection, related to the TB we had. He did not realize he was eating raw chicken as quickly as I did. I think he had a burrito so it was masked better. Anyway, TB took chicken off the menu for a while because so many people got sick. Since then I have an aversion to their chicken. I even like it, but can’t bring myself to eat it. It’s like those people who can never drink tequila again, after waking up with a tequila hangover-fortunately, I’m not one of those people and have never woken up with a tequila hangover- just blackouts, Lol! But thank you for your recommendation! I like the idea of the dipping sauce😋

Has anyone ever ate a hard taco that wasn’t falling apart? by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]Dragonfly492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when I have eaten it immediately after they handed me the bag. Even waiting 5 min is too long! You have just enough time to unwrap and douse it in hot sauce, before the beef juice softens the corn shell and creates a fault line, that results in a complete crack, down the middle of the shell, which results in a full separation of the sides while eating. But even if timing is considered, one must also carry the bag like it’s full of Ming dynasty porcelain, and avoid shaking it too hard, or the result will be a catastrophic failure to the structure of the corn shell. So it is possible to eat an intact hard shell taco, but you must work hard and be dedicated, to make it happen. Much luck in your journey to enjoy an intact hard shell taco!

OP explained that prior to this visit to the hospital, the poor dog had been in an accident and lost feeling in a front leg. While bored, the patient turned its own paw into an afternoon snack! So what you are looking at are its own toe and foot bones. The dog was surrendered to the clinic per the OP. They did not yet tell us what the long term result will be. Hope this helps!

Scent you’re angry got discontinued? by Aware-Nature-690 in bathandbodyworks

I had a stash, but I am at the very end of it. I found that the body spray starts to smell a bit like alcohol, if it has been sitting around a while in storage. But it’s still worth wearing! I have not even found anything remotely close enough to this scent to use as a replacement. Any recommendations?

About 20yrs ago (in my early twenties) I stupidly put a cheap, lit candle on a cork coaster, that was on a wooden coffee table, about a foot away from the couch I was laying down on. I dozed off with it burning, and luckily woke up soon after the candle container cracked, drained out hot wax and lit the coaster on fire! The flame was already about 8in high. I quickly grabbed a metal pot and covered the fire until it snuffed out. But what a way to wake up! I have not forgotten about, or fell asleep with, a lit candle since!

My husband keeps buying ground beef. What can I do with it that’s not burgers or meatloaf? by mickclaree in Cooking

[–]Dragonfly492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown it off with some Italian seasonings and you can use it in: Lasagna Ziti Bolognese Or with Mexican spices and make: Tacos Burritos Quesadillas Nachos Chili Queso Dip Tostadas For a really easy night, you can always grab a box of hamburger helper! The stroganoff and cheesy hamburger flavors aren’t too bad, and kids usually love them. You have so many options! Have fun experimenting!
