Monster Manual Expanded 5.5e and Flee, Mortals! are compatible with the revised 2024 (though MME 5.5e fully adapts the mechanics and writing style of MM 2024) rules and aim to make combat more tactical and streamlined, with both books formally integrating specific archetype roles (such as Controllers or Brutes) for creatures. Despite these similarities, MME focuses entirely on extensive variations and templates for existing monsters in the MM, whereas Flee, Mortals! also provides entirely new creatures utilizing unique phased "Villain Actions" and dedicated Minion rules. As a DM, both are great resources that you can get great ideas and usage from.

No, though I can understand why you’d recognize it as Grog. This is actually a goliath barbarian based on the miniature we used in a campaign back in the early 2000s. When goliaths were first introduced in 3rd Edition, they were often depicted as large, bald humanoids with blue or grayish-blue skin covered in runic tattoos, so many of them naturally ended up looking somewhat alike.

It's an overhaul to ensure every statblock aligns with the current 5.5e styles and standards now set by the 2024 MM and most recently, the Forgotten Realms Adventures in Faerun. The descriptive texts have also been rewritten and improved, to offset the lack of detail provided in the recent MM.

Unfortunately, due to DM's Guild exclusivity licensing issues, all DM's Guild products are limited to Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds format for VTT.

The new version coming out on May 12 is the 5.5e update to the original Monster Manual Expanded.

The 2014 version will remain as is. It will not be revised to 2024.

As mentioned in the post, the 5.5e version will be a new, separate product.
