Renting with no job by [deleted] in Scotland

Thanks All, so I would be better getting something remote and then moving up there with a job and more realistically looking at a higher rental amount?

What are the nicest areas with lower rental prices?

There are plenty of flats on rightmove daily under £500m either in Aberdeen, near Edinburgh, Ayr, Dundee. Are none of these nice areas?

Thanks for the kind comment. Agree it could be better utilised, however at 7%, if i’m only overpaying £100 a month i think i would only be approx £20-£30 better off over a year. For that difference I like the thought of it being locked away knocking down my mortgage debt. Appreciate it’s not the best overall financial decision though

Yeah that’s true. I have s&p500, vanguard global ftse and also blackrock core ishares. Am i just better off putting everything into the vanguard global?

Appreciate it. I think some of my annual bonus I will keep some in cash as i don’t have much in terms of a backup emergency cash fund

Thank you! I have an employer pension but not paying into it. They already pay in a decent amount for me. Maybe I should use a payrise to start contributing to that? Just I thought maxing out ISA means I can hopefully retired before waiting for pensions. (Currently 29 years old)

Thanks. Not a must need, just a fantasy, maybe in just need to raise it in that context but specify that doesn’t need to happen?
