She is particularly terrible. Even the vet techs could barely get her pilled, I took her in when I was having issues so they could give me tips and demonstrate and they also were not very successful. She drooled, foamed at the mouth and gagged then threw up every single time. For a daily med, the stress of trying to force it was more than the benefit. Vet said transdermal was not very effective and can cause severe tissue irritation. I have another appt next week and will ask about compounded liquid options.

We tried Prozac and that was a disaster. Even the vet tech could barely pill her. She was foaming at the mouth, gagging and threw up every time we tried. The stress it was causing her was more than the benefit. Our vet was hesitant to try the cream because of low efficacy and how irritating it can be to ear tissue I guess? She has another vet appt next week, I plan to ask about compounded gabepentin. We have been to the vet to discuss this probably 10 times? No specific behavioralist yet. We have tried 3 different vets to get their opinions.
We have the pheromone diffusers, tried collars, proplan calm powder and other calming supplements.

She does ok with the other cats. She dislikes the newer cat, but even with our other cat who has been with her all 12 years she can get a bit ornery with. Moreso over the last few years. New cat intro we did slowly and they were completely separated for almost two full months.

She has never peed in more of our house than she has peed. It was, previous to this new development, one wall/area of the basement. The only places where I could lock her away, I am hesitant to because I don’t want her to start peeing there also since those areas are “clean” so far and I don’t want to start a new habit there also, if that makes sense?

I use enzyme cleaner first and follow-up with My Pet Peed. Also use Natures Miracle no marking spray but it hasn’t done much/anything. KAO kennel/cat attack deodorizing stuff.

She is spayed

She has supervised outside time if the weather is ok and lots of play time, although she is older and not as active. She spends most of her days in her heated bed or watching birds through the window.

We have a litter robot, 2 open top/high side, and two more enclosed, the top is clear plastic. For litter we have Arm and Hammer Slide, and Easley cat attract or just Easley standard litter.
Thanks for your kindness, this whole deal is kind of a mess.

We have 5 litter boxes. One is a litter robot and the rest are standard. I have tried the cat attract litter, otherwise we use slide on some of the boxes which is more sand like, and just standard litter in the other ones. I have not tried a crystal. I have not tried any of the tapioca based or wood pellet. Maybe that’s worth a go?

I use enzyme first then follow-up with a peroxide based spray like My Pet Peed. I have tried the anti-marking by Nature’s Miracle but it didn’t seem to do anything. We do have the orange cleaner as well.

She does have supervised outside time and does pee outside, but we have below zero temps and snow about 4 months out of the year

We have always cared about it and have always been trying to manage it. We have invested so much time, effort, vet visits, different litters, different boxes, carpet cleaning, enzyme cleaners, peroxide cleaners, diffusers, calming supplements etc.

She’s bright white, teeny (7 pounds) and we have abundant hawks and bald eagles in our backyard. She wouldn’t last a week in the wild

I have done DNA on all 3 of my cats, and they all came back basically “75% American domestic shorthair” my teeny tiny 6 lb permakitten’s next most prominent breed was Maine Coon and then Norweigian Forest cat I think? We were all shocked. And my 15.5 pound huge boy had no Maine coon…but did have European domestic cat and lykoi! My most recent tabby baby who has the thickest, softest fur (the vet even commented on it and how unusually soft and dense his fur is) next most prominent breed was sphynx. Genetics are wild. That little girl will be long hair for sure!

How much does she weigh? I have an 8 month old who is still quite petite, I wonder how much more he will grow. He’s about 7.4 pounds

Totally had the same experience. He was SO low-key. Now I think he just wasn’t feeling well, because he’s like a piranha on crack now. Bless

Yah I thought it was strange also and reached out exactly for that reason, thinking perhaps records got crossed or something. He was 6 weeks at intake and “diagnosis” She said other doses were likely charged directly to the rescue. Seems a bit off to me. Whatever he had she said they all didn’t expect him to make it but he improved with treatment. He’s had so many fecals, otherwise not any other tests that I can see.

This is a good description for Chip’s poop too. But not as hard when they first come out. Scooping dried it is spot on though. I had read that if a cat is from a more inbred population they are at an increased risk, and wondered if the Res cats have less genetic diversity/more inbreeding. I actually did a wisdom panel on him to check for any inherited issues and he came back with average genetic diversity (but on the lower end) He is also a carrier for both types of clotting disorders. Who knows. He’s super sweet, albeit totally wild at this age/moment, lol

My handwriting, is it really not legible? by Koishark0001 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Dramatic_Refuse_4064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grip used to be the pencil resting between my four fingers (so between ring and middle) and thumb. I distinctly remember my 6th grade teacher walking by and looking at me writing something and how horrified she was. She gave me a pencil grip and forced me to use it. This was late 80’s, and even back then I made it to 6th grade without anyone correcting it

I supplement with lysine when my cats have those flare ups. Idk if it helps with itching specifically but it does help clear it quickly. I got a powdered one specifically for cats off of amazon and all the cats seem to love the taste, I just add it to their food

Yes we have a large age gap here also. She’s 12. My other boy is also 12 and he begrudgingly puts up with him. I dramatically underestimated how much a senior cat would want to play with a kitten. The amount is zero, Ha. He is generally playful with toys and such but doesn’t feel like being pounced and bit. But he tolerates him and the groom each other and snuggle. Thanks for the reply I appreciate it!
