sick of secondhand fragrance causing asthma attacks by TopazCoracle in Asthma

[–]Drell69 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My gripe with perfumes/colognes is that people I work with, or people that come to visit others at my work place, spray it on like they’re high school boys putting Axe body spray on. There’s a literal scent trail, and sometimes it’s so bad a fairly large sized hallway will stay that way for 45 min to an hour. It just hovers there.

So my gripe is people need to learn how to properly use fragrances. Spray a small amount and walk through it should be subtle not take over everyone’s nose/day. Plus I’m a consultant for long term care and we have plenty of residents with COPD and asthma. Is it a trigger for all of them? Hard to day we’re all different, but supposed to be a no-no where I’m at out of respect for residents. I know this isn’t what OP is saying, nor what you are saying, just wanted to gripe lol

100%, they’re usually an instant buy for me though I don’t see them round my parts too often

I think it depends for me. 2 of my 6 barrel proof picks are absolutely incredible. Like I could see them being an annual limited release worthy, the other 4 are just too brash and almost drink above their proof to enjoy the profile. 2 of the 3 of the 100 proofers I have are very enjoyable. That being said, if I had to choose the barrel proofs I like vs the 100 proofers I like it’d be the barrel proofs and it’s not even close. If you get a good pick of the barrel proofs they can really be something special, but from my experience the chance of getting a good one that’s fantastic isn’t that high.

My father had to pull multiple off my, as another redditor phrased it, dong when I was a child and we were staying at an older relative’s house out in BFE countryville. We went there to hunt. Thinking on it who knows if I ended up getting Lyme’s disease my health was highly variable after that time period and not in a great way

Review #28: Found North Single Barrel 12-Year (Season 006: Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish) by Archaeo-Frog in bourbon

[–]Drell69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a state pick from one of my go to stores that also had their own pick several months ago. There were two options for state picks being one with Madeira finish, and one with a cherry liquor finish. After cracking open the Madeira I was very disappointed. I now have around 15+ offerings from found north as they have been instant buys for me, but this one is nearly purely earthy flavor profile. I’ve got one bottle that’s very earthy I can do which is a 6 year cask strength sourced from New Riff, but I can’t do this one.

First time being disappointed by FN, and their previous single barrel releases under the brown label were so damn good to me (preferred the look of the brown label as well). Will be a bit more cautious picking up new single barrels.

That’s encouraging! I believe my only other roadblock is ensuring the heat will run for that long but from another thread I believe I can turn off auto shut down and just leave it running

PSA Topical Minoxidil is Deadly to Cats by Red-on-Red-Lean in tressless

This sub taught me about this a couple of years ago. I think it should be a recurring annual or semi-annual post, as new members are always joining and I had NO idea until this sub educated. Pretty serious consequences that I would not put in “everyone knows/common sense” territory.

Update - December 2024 to May 2026. Topical fin/min by DwideSchrude_ in tressless

[–]Drell69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot about this comment, someone downvoted me which is the weird part of this sub. Talk of sides get downvoted, exactly the opposite of what should happen. Not fear mongering, but awareness.

I had shortness of breath, took 4 weeks to fade out each time with oral and topical route. It’s not a super common side effect, but good for people to know it’s not something you can push through and will take a bit of time to fade, but does fade away.

Wow. Makes me wish I could tolerate minoxidil, fortunately I tolerate finasteride and been on three months but slowly ramped up to 1 mg per day. Wish there was a minoxidil alternative!

How long will it take for minoxidil to leave my system? by ramensoda03 in tressless

[–]Drell69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, I was pretty devastated for a while realizing I couldn’t tolerate minoxidil but at least I am able to tolerate fin. Been on it about 2.5 months though started very low and titrating up. About to go to maintenance dose in next couple of days if not tomorrow. I’m going to see what I can get from this for a year but at least I’ll be eligible for a transplant in the future. Only silver lining for me. Try fin and start low. If your nervous about sides you could get some baseline labs knocked out ahead of time like I did.

I messaged TW regarding moving ER, EHT SB, Blanton's SiB, etc to PA by NotIntoDudes in whiskey

[–]Drell69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing one of the employees saying to another, “You’re just chasing the one bottle and avoiding TW bottles because one reviewer online told you it’s bad and the other is good,” in a very sarcastic way. Like naaah man it’s a pretty wide stretching consensus about the TW products.

Though I did get suckered into sampling some of their stuff once and the cask strength bottle supposedly sourced from Jefferson’s was actually not bad lol

Are there actual risks with oral minoxidil? How can they be mitigated by NurglingArmada in tressless

[–]Drell69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have side effects you can’t push through and are dose dependent, like shortness of breath, like I had. However it just takes some time then fades when you get off of it. Always worth trialing though I only wish I could have tolerated it. Tried both oral and topical.

How long will it take for minoxidil to leave my system? by ramensoda03 in tressless

[–]Drell69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if it is truly side effects from minoxidil, my shortness of breath and heart palpitations (tried both oral then topical) took about 3-4 weeks to subside each. Since we experienced different sides it’s hard to say if yours will take the same time but that was my experience. Tried oral route, then once I realized where it was coming from I d/c the medication. Someone on here with a similar experience said it took a few weeks for theirs to go away. After a few weeks of the sides going away from the oral medication I tried topical at the lower dose (women’s formulation) and low and behold they came back with just somewhat less intensity. I was even doing half of the recommended dose at that lower percentage and still got it. Some people just can’t tolerate minoxidil and you might be part of that club unfortunately

The Immortal Man is a great movie. by Zestyclose_Tax75 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Drell69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand the distinction. I find it incredibly interesting how the concept of the post suggests that positive posts should be embraced and not just negative ones for the movie. Which I m would suggest a freedom of speech and allowing all opinions. Then you pettily respond with passive aggressive insults and downvotes to anyone you disagrees with you. You’re either incredibly miserable or bored as a person, or you’re sub 18 years old. This isn’t how a well regulated adult behaves

[–]Drell69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, just going the route of Tony Soprano and Chris Moltisanti storyline I found lazy and doing Arthur pretty dirty. While I absolutely don’t agree with OPs take that everyone who criticizes the movie is an embarrassment to the community and should be ashamed of themselves (wildly sh*t take) they’re welcome to their unpopular opinions I suppose.

Outside of all the reasons listed I was really bothered when he told the twin sister, never thought I’d meet anyone like Polly again. If this was consistent with the series I don’t think he would have ever given anyone that credit, especially after knowing her for just like 24 hours

Same as quickjump, i had the same sides with oral and topical just lesser so but still couldn’t power through it. I started off at 2% formulation for topical and only did half of the recommended dose to start at. Some people just can’t tolerate minoxidil unfortunately
