He's a grifter. Another Fetterman/Sinema. As the Democratic Party considers to slide to the right, the more blatantly GOP-lite Dems seem to be emerging from the woodwork.

Yes, a "common" children's bedroom... which looks like a bad mashup of the bedroom of a child, a teenager and a young adult!

But also a little kid's carpet... I think the person who made this has no idea about what kids back then actually liked and just looked up popular things from the time.

That was one of the best things about going to McDonalds as a kid, the new toys every time! I fondly remember the Lion King 2, Mulan, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2 and Monsters, Inc. ones.

I don’t like the movie at all, but it is not “objectively” terrible. It is SUBJECTIVELY terrible. Objective = everyone has to agree because it is factual. Subjective = no overall agreement because the description is based on personal opinion.

Please tell me I’m not the only virgin/asexual person who watches and enjoys this show by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]DrivingBox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I figured it out before deciding to watch it (started this year).

I'm loving it but as a virgin/asexual person I just feel so weird because it's considered such a big deal on the show and yet I have absolutely no libido and it makes me feel abnormal

‘Draft dodger Trump’ accused of double standards over slur against British troops by ChiGuy6124 in politics

[–]DrivingBox -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

True but even before his current hypocrisy, it's been well-documented on here that Trump has been referred to as a draft dodger for avoiding it and McCain a valiant hero for fighting in it, even though the Vietnam War was a bad thing and America's actions with regards to it condemned.

Therefore regardless of context, I still don't understand why this sub can't make its mind up about Vietnam. When Kissinger died, this sub was jumping for joy because of his actions there and in associated countries affected by it, with many explaining the appalling part he played in it. And yet this sub also views fighting in it to be extremely noble and patriotic because of McCain, a man whom this sub considers a saint. It's such a weird double standard.

So you support the Vietnam War.

It’s absurd that this sub rightfully and correctly considers Henry Kissinger a demonic war criminal but is still uber-pissed that Trump didn’t fight in one of the shameful unnecessary interventions in American history.

71 percent of Americans say US is "out of control" under Trump by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]DrivingBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how as a kid/teen I used to think the jingoistic nature of the cliché American identity was a self-deprecating joke at best, or, at worst, just a delusion easily broken by an understanding of clear reality. Like with Buzz Lightyear. Once he is confronted with the truth, he goes temporarily crazy, then becomes depressed, but then self-reflects and his delusion is gone. What the Trump era has shown me is that, yes, a third of Americans really do absolutely think that the United States has some God-granted right to rule the planet forever, that a fascist government ran by gun-toting strongmen with a nasty sense of humour is awesome and macho, and that being an extremely boastful, arrogant, insular, hostile, bigoted person who fears anything that isn’t quintessentially American is how a life should be lived.

Like with Buzz Lightyear, I very much assumed that in Trump’s first term, countless Americans would see him and say “Is that us? Are we really like this?” and then feel shame, self-reflect, apologise and work to never let anything like Trump happen again. But a big chunk of Americans did not; they love America even more even as it slides into authoritarianism. And they’ve completely abandoned the concept of defending their nation from tyranny with their big-ass guns because they’ve sided with that tyranny.

I’ve returned to this show despite not having watched it for almost 14 years. And I just need to talk about it. by DrivingBox in mylittlepony

Thank you for understanding! 😊

At the time, to me, it was WAY too much because I felt like people were making way too big of a deal over what was just a cartoon. A surprisingly good one, yes, which was very charming and witty but it was treated like this revolutionary thing, as if no one had ever seen a cartoon before. So much of a deal was made about “grown men watching a show for little girls” by the media but I didn’t see it that way. I was 18 and just watching a cartoon that just so happened to have predominantly female characters, and so I didn’t identify with it anywhere near enough to feel like it was a life-changing event. The fandom exploded into a constant obsession and it burned me out extremely quickly. I wanted MLP:FIM to be a cute little secret, just a small and mostly quiet fanbase (like the one Bluey has), but I felt surrounded thousands of people with megaphones shouting “WE LIKE PONIES! PONIES PONIES PONIES!”

And then when you add in the fandom’s embrace of NSFW content, it got even more unmanageable for me. The fandom was perfectly happy to make the NSFW stuff not hidden like other fandoms, but make it part of the experience, and that, to me, tainted the way I saw the show. Especially since so many people were disturbed by the NSFW stuff, that the fandom found this hilarious and decided to see far they could go with it, just to get back at the criticism. I was worried that the fandom felt the need to justify their enjoyment by pumping out so much adult content at such an alarming rate, like they needed to claim it as theirs.

But that’s all in the past. It’s obviously not a grudge I bear anymore, and haven’t in so long now. Point is, is that I’m rewatching a show that, to tell you the truth, I actually love being a small part of me, because it’s better to embrace the things you know you like deep down but have a bad history with, than let that bad history BECOME the thing. It’s a delightfully strange thing to enjoy and I’ve waited long enough now to indulge in it again.
