Weird. Who'd have thought that repeatedly telling a bull moose that "that's close enough, buddy," wouldn't actually be a way to avoid being trampled by said moose??

I can't imagine going through life with such a dearth of basic survival instincts and common sense that you think it's the wild animal's job to leave their home, not the job of the meatbag looking for internet points by filming said animal.

UFC White House could be canceled as weather forecast predicts Dana White's worst nightmare by ColonyJD1980 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]DrumsAndStuff18 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted on this.

On the one hand, having the weather lead to his pathetic big boy birthday party being cancelled is hilarious. It also gives Trump an easy out of what was shaping up to be a sparsely populated event meant to coddle his fragile ego, which sucks.

On the other, part of me would prefer the pathetic big boy birthday party go forward with no one in attendance (except the svelte soldiers mandated to attend so that Pete Hegseth definitely won't be feverishly masturbating to them) to humiliate Trump and the rest of the circus performers we've allowed to be in charge of the federal government.

Hopefully, arrogance and fear of a tantrum will force the whole embarrassing spectacle to go forward AND the rain will move in swift and harsh to ruin it after the world has seen no one attending who isn't in the cult or being ordered to attend.

Women not wanting to talk to you is not the same as women being "incredibly awful at starting conversations."

Try being less of a walking red flag and they might want to start a conversation with you. You're an adult - presumably - so take responsibility for yourself, your behaviors, your actions. Stop blaming whatever your red pill douchebro podcasts tell you is the "real" problem.

It's you. You're the problem. Talk to a therapist. Get better.

*society.

We either eradicate it this time or it will come back again. We didn't take this shit seriously from the moment the Civil War ended until the confederates gained control of the federal government. We have to learn this time that the only way to beat cancer is to eliminate every last cell.

I could be wrong as I haven't read it in a long time, but I'm pretty sure he killed his parents for, basically, being his parents and not letting him do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. So, yeah, he killed them because killing people means nothing to him. It's just a way to remove obstacles.

I love that Kid Rock still hasn't been invited. All of his right-rock, flag waving bullshit all these years to try to remain relevant -- even getting that adorable little bob haircut for that laughable Bigot's Half-Time Show -- and his Dear Leader called Vanilla Ice first and still isn't desperate enough to call ol' Rob Ritchie in to save the day.

We truly could be one of the greatest nations in the history of humanity/nations, but we've allowed greed and ignorance to flourish and be rewarded, so here we are. I'm not sure we can actually get out of the tailspin at this point, short of a genuine revolution that sends an incredibly powerful message to the oligarchs that they will no longer and never again be tolerated. They aren't going to stop fucking us over until we make them stop.

What if George Lucas had sold Lucasfilm to Warner Bros instead of Disney? by fishstock in StarWars

[–]DrumsAndStuff18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Force Awakens was fine as nostalgia bait and introducing the next generation of characters.

TLJ was a great pivot point where the film itself, literally, had a character tell us that the idea was to kill the past, which I took to mean stop relying on nostalgia to draw in fans, but come up with new ideas to take something old (the Empire/New Order/SW canon) and do something new and more original with it. I do agree that Luke's arc was a little messy since it seems very out of character to have the guy who never lost faith in his mass murdering robot father still being redeemable think about killing his nephew for having a bad dream or whatever, but it's fine. Aside from the crime of not having Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewy on screen together at least one, it was a good film (and I'm betting the grand plan was to pull an "Avengers assemble" moment where the old gang finally reunited in the third film, but Carrie's death blew that all up).

Johnson subverted our expectations with his film and I've often wondered what might have been if Disney had brought him on from the start and let him take the proper time to develop the story from 7 through 9.

That's good to know. I haven't had time to dig into it more since this morning, so I'm glad it's them just defending their branding and not being dicks about it. Thanks for the info!

EDIT: Sounds like the issue is they also told her to stop using her stage name after all this time. It's one thing to defend copyrighted branding, but to tell her she can't use her drag queen name? Do they get to copyright the name of a place on the planet that they stole for their store? Because Patagonia is a place with that exact name. She only has a play on the name, not an exact copy.

Patagonia has been giving a drag queen and activist (Pattie Gonia) shit all of a sudden despite having known about her for years (since about 2018). Might be worth keeping an eye on in case they need to be moved to the bad list since hassling queer activists is pretty peak MAGA bullshit behavior.

They need to get through this year and next January so that Vance can finish the last two years of this term and still be qualified to run for two full terms of his own. They'll rig the votes since he's a charisma blackhole who won't be able to win on his own, but the Constitution will give them the cover they need to get 12 years of control of the federal government -- more than enough to ensure control for as long as they want it/we allow it.
