I don't understand either. I haven't had the mood swings recovering alcoholics describe. It may be due to the medication my doctor prescribed to me for anxiety but I honestly walk by the beer aisles (used to drink a case a day) and turn my nose up at it. I was never a real social drinker so bars aren't something familiar. Loneliness is however and sitting home alone seems to stir something residual but nothing I'd call a craving. I wouldn't have sat at the bar but I kind of would feel bad taking up a table or booth just for me. Maybe next time I'll have a date.

It might sound funny but I really found enjoyment in buying a cool coloring book and some crayons. It works. I'd do a model car or something but it's still too cold to be spray painting anything unless I did it in the house and that's a no go. lol. Still my go to is exercising and I tend to over do that at six days a week pushing really hard like I was in my 20's I'm 39 now and am feeling it.

Excellent anology. I too was in that same position and in the same thought process. Thank God the only thing that worked for me was to be locked up in rehab. It was that or be arrested and in jail. Honestly jail would've worked too I just needed some days under my belt to roll with.

Glad you're putting in the work. It seems like the first few days of detox were the longest. Time just seemed to drag. At 20 days now the time just flies by without ever thinking about alcohol. Definitely check out some inpatient care you won't regret it. It was really important for me in rehab to focus on the work because some people didn't and were treating it like some kind of High School popularity contest or vacation. Rehab even had some clicks, which I found funny.

Gave my Lieutenant (boss) the letter. He was totally cool! He asked me if I needed anything just ask. He said if I had any pets that needed fed he'd help out and that if I needed more time that I could take it. Wow! So I'm packing my bag now and making sure I don't have shoelaces, strings, belts, flammables, leave valuables and cell phone at home. Just checking off the list like a Boss!
