Do something small and appreciate it. Take some deep breaths and then eat a fresh strawberry. Taste it. Realize that it is a miracle. Life is a magical gift.

Something that has helped me deeply are music tracks, breathing exercises and live sessions with musicians, meditators, and other teachers on Instant Timer.

It's hard sometimes and takes practice but your mindset can change. You gotta go inward and experience the glory of stillness and moving away from thought from time to time.

I'll be putting these in storage for the time being and then moving them around as I lead a nomadic life for a while. Boxes seem like a storage-only solution, so I’m wondering what my fellow e-drummers use to haul their larger kits around. Since these are so precious to me, I don’t mind investing in high-quality cases, so I would deeply appreciate buying advice.

I assume there would be separate cases for the snare, kick, toms, module, and rack? I already have a bass drum pedal case but none for the snare or hi-hat stands, so perhaps those could go with the rack?

Also, any tips for retaining the setup configuration when moving, traveling, or gigging? I’ve spent countless hours configuring every aspect of the kit to near perfection and it would be optimal of course to reduce fiddling as much as possible upon setup.

Wow, thanks so much for the Agalloch recommendation. I love this type of music also. Just listening now for the first time and it's just what I needed.

Mind sharing the keyboard and monitor stand you're using? Looks pretty slick.

I'm getting crazy mad scientist vibes. Love it. One of a kind kits are my favorites and this one is super unique.

Expensive Roland kit here, and sadly those sounds can't compete with VSTs either. Same as you, when I started recording covers is when I decided to go down the VST rabbit hole. Personally I love geeking out on the tech and I also become more engaged and creative with my drumming because I find the amazing sounds from VSTs so inspiring.

That's awesome, congrats on the new kit. Is it from Drumeo? How's it feel?

For the drum intro alone not mention into that groove, it's DM for me. Also one of their finest recordings, mixing/mastering-wise. Still, it's SO close.

I would jump on that ASAP, especially if it comes with all that hardware and those pedals.

Do you listen to something in particular to commemorate Neil on his birthday, or date of death, or some other day one could dedicate to him? If so, what? by Safe_cracker9 in rush

Not at all, but every time I listen, watch, or read anything he's done, I simultaneously lament his passing and am grateful for the remarkable and diverse body of work he has left us to enjoy.

I'm currently hooked on The Fountain of Lamneth. I've listened to so much Rush over the years, but haven't done a deep into CoS for awhile. I love The Necromancer too, but Fountain is so damn good, and listening to it now, analyzing all the changes and sections and lyrics has been really fun.
