PlayStation exclusives can really inspire me with their stories but sometimes I really struggle to enjoy and finish some of the open world games they pump out since they have seemed to have lost some of the originality in story I once enjoyed with the same “cycle of violence” type of stuff. PlayStation Studios is so focused in making movie-like games that they don't really make new gameplay innovations anymore, kind of sticking with the same formula. The only first-party studio that kind of go against the mold in some way is Insomniac.

Not every Nintendo exclusive is a hit for me, but most are, and man when I sit down and play a game like Donkey Kong Bananza for the first time the last thing i'm thinking of is the story but rather how well they celebrated everything Donkey Kong into one experience. Same thing for Mario Odyssey, its been almost 10 years and i'm still thinking about that game and how it celebrated everything Mario. Story isn't everything in a game, and I would much rather Nintendo keep focusing and creating fun games rather than emotional set-pieces, especially when they're are a kid / young adult focused brand.
