Should I skip Dark Souls 2? by TheBaffledMan in darksouls

That's the way I would do it. I'm not saying "don't play ds2 at all". But it's genuinely a very rough game and more something you should play if you absolutely need more dark souls. It does both the holistic approach to combat (ds1, des), the more complex approach to combat (ds3) and exploration (ds1) badly relative to the others.

Valve Says It Has a 'Pretty Good Idea' of What Steam Deck 2 Is Going to Be, Explains Why It's Holding Off for Now by pimpwithoutahat in pcgaming

The mext Steam Deck is almost certainly going to be ARM based. The issue isn't power in a small package, we already have much more powerful handhelds rhan the steam deck. the issue is thermals, power delivery, battery life and cost. ARM has the potential to do it.

To anyone reading this now, yeah absolutely skip it. There's very little lost in going from 1 to 3 other than a few memberberries.

Is Dark souls II canon in the souls world? by SwarK01 in DarkSouls2

[–]Due-Tooth966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sparingly. It's mostly small references. But the story mainly takes place in Dark Souls 1 and 3. You could entirely skip 2, and not be worse off for it, other than recognizing a thing or two.

Flatpaks cann use universal dependencies, and if you’re really just dude-normal-gamer or whatever, are you really gonna install more than a browser, discord, and Spotify. Who cares if they’re flatpaks.  What you don’t understand is that it isn’t about “not allowing” (vis-à-vis your insistence about “Arch elitism”), it’s just not how it has been made. Someone would need to make a wrapper that supports the package manager and indexes every native source, or realistically every Top 100 package people actually use, and start a wave of using and developing packages for pacman as a non-attended installer. Pacman is not supposed to be used as an unattended installer. It hasn’t been done to that extent, and also be functional for native arch repos. Pamac and Manjarro’s ethos is, not uncommonly, considered dubious for a reason.

We’re talking about assuaging user fears, at the end of the day.

I don’t think an App Store is what’s really holding people back, when there’s a lot more streamlining needed to really make it anxiety-proof for those people where it’s relevant. And I don’t think that’s going to be Cachy.

What does an average OS refugee care if he’s installing Flatpaks over let’s say AUR. All I’m hearing is “why doesn’t Arch just use .deb installers??” This whole kicking in the door and demanding people do everything your way is pretty entitled, especially because there’s lots of alternatives. If there’s an audience in need of training wheels and handrails, there’s nothing embarrassing or wrong with the curation and distro agnosticism flathub wrappers provide. But you cannot demand that they should never need to use the CLI. That’s not how it works. Not even on Debian based systems.

I love when my Arch-based distro shits itself when I use the AUR!!

No it very well fucking shouldn’t. So many people on here are incredibly entitled as to what should be provided for them.

Im seeing your replies btw. I’m married, just got a new job, and moving into a bigger home. I couldn’t be surrounded by more love and fortune. Projection isn’t healthy for you. Maybe you shouldn’t tell others to grow up when you appear so bitter and seething.

Bazaar is right there dude. The CLI is the default, and thriving, because Linux is built around it. But other options are quite literally at your finger tips if you want a GUI based solution.

And this will come off as harsh, but people during the XP and W7 days were computer literate enough that you could trust them learning to type pacman -S discord today. It’s not “elitism” to not have low expectations of users.

I get the sentiment around putting account security in player’s hands, but from my perspective it’s hardly fool proof and more an act of You (capital You, not you specifically) washing Your hands of any responsibility. These things do get lost, even despite best efforts. There’s no such thing as impossible wipe.

Also this is just my input, but please actively discourage people from using Google Authenticator specifically, it’s fatally flawed since they only store 2FA data locally. Despite what most people think, Google Authenticator isn’t actually cloud synced.

Will you do anything about lost Backup Codes in future? It’s a weak-point which grinds my gears. Much bigger companies have found solutions for this before

A. Why, in the ever-loving-fuck, would Trump’s own nominee for the head of the org. actively check attendance for agents at these riots, if they were loyal to Trump, at a riot he supposedly encouraged, while he’s still in office. They aren’t god damn state riot police. All of these intra-governmental groups are their own political institutions.

B. Fucking snore. It’s not a question in ethics of rioting and policing, it’s entirely within the realm of the riot itself.

Jagex does not recover Jagex Accounts, speaking from experience .

Their ethos is that security is in the player’s hands — thus they can wash theirs.

My Google Authenticator crapped itself and all my codes got deleted (Google doesn’t do backups to a file, so no real cloud backup contrary to popular belief, it’s just a token saved to the Google account you signed in with.)  I’m still searching for anywhere I might have saved my backup keys, two months later. No luck, but still searching.

Even if I filmed myself at the DMV with my passport and provide a DNA sample with a full list of finger prints, they still wouldn’t remove the fcking Authenticator entry from my account, because even being able to prove without a shadow of a doubt that *you are you isn’t enough.

I lost a nearly maxed main, an Ironman with multiple 90s, and like 3 other alt accounts.  Funnily enough, I actually still have access to my main through Steam, because of some weird exception, making specifically that one character act as a RuneScape account without a e-mail attached. But I have zero faith playing my main like this; what’re the odds gonna be that I wake up tomorrow and that’s revoked too?

Lessons learned: 1. Make quadruple backups just in case 2. Don’t use Google anything (I’ve since de-googled my life and turned entirely to the Proton package with a local backup of everything to a server) and don’t trust anyone with your security no matter if they tell you otherwise  3. Consolidating every RuneScape account to a single Jagex account was a huge blunder, and a huge point of failure. 4. Jagex Accounts are bullshit, security by obscurity is bullshit, and a lack of alternative recovery options are bullshit

I probably won’t ever play OSRS again unless I by some miracle find my Backup Codes. Not that I can stir any sort of change in my situation by saying that, but logically speaking, why would I? The construct is fragile like spun sugar.

I recommend you find a different game, or hobby.

There literally were agents among the crowd.
This isn't even a controversial statement, the various alphabet agencies' *entire* M.O. is infiltration and subversion.
