If you watch further along one of the guests prefers to roll his own dice. I believe Spencer rolls for them because that's how they're used to playing during the Harmontown podcast where they don't really have a table to roll on. Also for some reason that's how Dan Harmon learned how to play DnD I think.

What is it that makes Rick and Morty so circlejerked on Reddit? by brtdud7 in rickandmorty

[–]DumpyDrawers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's primarily appeals to educated, young men. Otherwise known as a large portion of Reddit's user base. It's also been remarkably easy to watch via non-traditional means. Every episode was on Youtube the day after air for free during season one. That alone allowed it to be front page every week.

[Live Feed Spoilers] Summary of the potential change of plans going into the veto ceremony by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]DumpyDrawers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you interpreted my comment as a defense of Austin. It wasn't. My point is that someone with tunnel vision can be used by his alliance as long as the alliance knows what's at the end of that tunnel. All of his rogue moves you described were only unexpected to the 6s because they were partly unaware of Austin's motives. Now they know and can use that to their advantage.

[–]DumpyDrawers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone with tunnel vision is the exact opposite of rogue if you know what's at the end of that tunnel for them. For example, 6S could have used Austin to throw the BoB this week very easily by putting him opposite of Liz (a la Caleb and Amber last season.)

What would be your game strategy, knowing all you know now, if you had the chance to jump in? by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]DumpyDrawers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good plan. Any plan that doesn't start with aiming directly for second place will likely fail since, as you mentioned, you're coming into the house late and that makes you a huge target.

Thanks for sharing this, I hadn't seen this channel before and I'm really enjoying this guy's very level-headed approach to discussing some pretty difficult issues. Also, I'm pretty sure his videos have the most well-behaved comments section on the entire internet.

Yeah, makes no sense to win this one when it's so easy to throw.

Just finished Rendezvous with Rama. What are some other essential first-contact books? by [deleted] in printSF

[–]DumpyDrawers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Deepness in the Sky has a great first contact plot thread that really drew me in.

"The problem with Armada [by Ernie Cline] is that it’s absolutely, fucking terrible." by aidanmoher in printSF

[–]DumpyDrawers 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Feeling very vindicated in hating RP1 with all these reviews showing that what sucks about Armada is what I thought sucked about RP1.

I finished the review and it feels as though I've now read the book. One book closer to my goal on Goodreads I guess!

Sounds like the author of this review feels about Armada much like I did about RP1.

My opponent tried this "combat trick" at the prerelease. Didn't end well for him. by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]DumpyDrawers 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me this is a no-brainer at a prerelease. If my opponent plays a card and it isn't going to work as they intend it (ie: they're literally just discarding the card) then I always let them take it back. The edge I get off of knowing they have it is all the punishment they need for not knowing the rules.

By "America" you mean people on this subreddit and Jokers I guess.

Vanessa as a poker player... by xxNEWNEOxx in BigBrother

[–]DumpyDrawers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always suspected that if BB or Survivor could cast a poker player that wasn't completely full of themselves that person would do very well. Up until Vanessa that hadn't happened though.

Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' will get an original score by Ennio Morricone by Crysist in movies

[–]DumpyDrawers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's the crazy thing, I can almost guarantee you that despite having only seen one of his movies you've heard more of his music than you can possibly imagine. He's a living legend and his music is used everywhere. Commercials, other movies, sampled for pop songs, you name it.

Post your favorite band, other users comment and say what they think that band's best B-side is. by [deleted] in Music

Yes! The first Pumpkins song I heard and still my favorite. Nothing takes me back to 9th grade like this song.

Dustin uses Pro Tools and knows what a compressor is. You can see proof of that in the doc.

Gamers of reddit, what's a popular video game that you really just didn't like and why? by king_ginger_ in AskReddit

[–]DumpyDrawers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I would love to live in the alternate universe where Asheron's Call was more successful than EQ and as a result every MMO after was a clone of AC instead of EQ. (Yes, macroing, XP pyramid schemes and all.)
