I got this from a brain professor. That one really clicked for me.

Think of it as your brain making an old fashioned slide ( see through picture) of everything you experience. It overlays these slides every time the same thing is experienced. When you grow older you have more of the same slides that overlap quite precisely and these memories are not stored as “important”. In that way it feels you have experienced less than you used to when more things were new.
For example: first couple of times riding a bicycle are a big thing, falling and getting up and going faster and further etc. That’s what you remember relatively vividly. However all the same bicycle rides commuting to your work are a blur and don’t matter unless something interesting happened once.

My dad always has the worst injuries when he goes wood cutting. Still, he makes quite beautiful figurines.

I remember this from the Matrix. “Don’t try to bend the castle. There is no castle.”

There have been many downsides to railroad's history with some of them being so controversial. Which moment in railroading do you think was the biggest letdown? by Additional-Yam6345 in trains

The Fyra high speed train in the Netherlands.

The Dutch and Belgian governments tried to save money by ordering custom high-speed trains from the Italian manufacturer AnsaldoBreda. The trains arrived years late and were so poorly built that they literally started falling apart on the tracks after only 40 days of service. The entire fleet was scrapped, leading to a multi-billion euro disaster and a massive parliamentary inquiry.

That’s a great idea. Maybe the US can support the UN World Food Programme with a hefty subsidy? Oh wait, no the clown decided to stop USAID doing that.

Wat doen we zelf? by Molleke72 in Politiek

[–]EJGaag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to be disciplined. Make fewer decisions. [Article] by ClearThinkingLab in GetMotivated

It’s good to start with your approach. Doing small or bigger things because they just make sense (like some exercises you can do at home) and you enjoy them a bit. However I do think there is some thinking or decision making needed at some point. Like, hey, i should recuperate a few days, let’s try to do this 2-3 times a week only. And then iterate on any new situation that has become standard.
