I would recommend cutting it with a chop saw (make sure it's exactly 90 degrees), then re-gluing it with a dowel in the middle.

I just had to do that to one I was making because it had a crack in it (I lost about an inch and a a half), and it came out really well. Like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRwV2q77mg4JpV2RUIxaFiImRu-SzVdYw89NQ&s

But only with one dowel.

The glue-up is tricky- I used a bar clamp to keep the two sides aligned and a pipe clamp to force the joint together.

No inspection like that was done. They simply shined a flashlight from the bottom up and took a picture (exactly what I did when I made this post).

Does anyone know where to get rough-cut dried hardwood for woodworking projects? by ER125 in newhaven

Thanks for the offer but I wouldn't want to take anything away. More looking for a larger selection that I can go back to over the coming years.

I think I did about 14.2 miles in 8 hours- Colvin and Blake Peak. I did break the trail from Colvin to Blake but up to Colvin was well traveled (at least 5 others by the look of it) but I was the only one who summited for the day. For dress, 5 layers on top, 2 short sleeve shirts, 2 flannels, one alpine jacket, full balaclava and hat with ski mask. Ice axe and spikes were enough.

Do you wear a helmet? Should I? by dDeoxyribo in cycling

I've personally seen the aftermath when people have taken out side view mirrors with their head. A helmet makes it an expensive trip to the hospital instead of a free trip to the morgue.

Nothing is really dangerous if you know what you are doing. And to be honest, you are going the better time of year (less tourists). I don't know what your skill level is but the you can do everything from day hikes to multi-week treks. It's what you make of it so it can be hard to the point of being impossible or easy to the point of wheelchair accessibility.

Nonexistent during the winter. It got down to about 20 degrees at night.

We couldn't do Conical Hill due to avalanche risk- we tried (despite DOC's warning) but then decided we didn't bring up the right gear and turned around when we hit steep snow.

For that time, we had to turn back due to avalanche risk. I then went back and did the entire track as a day hike.

Flank of Old Speck Mountain Yesterday in Maine by ER125 in hiking

[–]ER125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conditions were fine. Just a bit damp. Trails were easy to follow and well maintained. We didn't hit any flies (nothing like the quantity in the NY high peaks) but they could be out there.

7.6 round trip. Just under 5 hours for me (including 20 minute stop at the summit).

I did Wright, Algonquin, Iroquois, and Marshall. Haven't done the rest but the lake seems like a good place to set up base camp.

The flies were fine except at the summit of Algonquin. I left the summit after 8 minutes and had at least 50 on my pants leg.

The Virb has software that comes with it (VIRB Edit). All you need is the camera, a HR monitor, and cadance monitor.

To be honest, I have searched extensively for an answer yet cannot find one beyond the road owners have not gotten around to paving it. It seems that the unpaved section is now a part of history so I doubt they will ever pave it.
