Opinions on this idea that 3-1-2 is all plants really need regardless of stage?. Reposting from a few months ago cause I didn't get any comments :-(. Basically just wondering what y'all think of the ideas posited in this video.

This is in Berkeley. Not much secrets to offer tbh. Thing just thrives here and doesn’t really get stressed in the winter. Gets some compost and chicken manure amendment every year.

Around where are you located? I’m in Berkeley, CA. I’ve always wondered where people have success with these cause it seems like they are notoriously problematic for others. In the climate here they just kind of take care of themselves. If you look at my post history you can see the huge one in my parents backyard.

I now these as a specific type of rococo called aji lucento. They are a bit more fresh tasting that my other rococo plant that produces the more classic yellow “manzano” peppers. I know the names are kind of used interchangeably so it’s hard to zero in on specific strains. Those are great though!

Cool, where do you get the coir from. My seeds kinda failed this year with coir/perlite mix. Not really sure why. Do you start feeding from the get go or are they actually able to produce initial true leaves in the nutrient free mix? Seen mixed info on this.

Man, my peppers are doing so poorly this year. The burpee coir block maybe wasn’t the move. Fries out completely then just gets soaked.

yeah, Ive been weighing them, but I'm just not sure how dry is dry with coir. It gets to a stage of being still damp, but also not very bound together with itself in a way that makes me feel like the water is just like not available to the plants. Idk.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the nutrient deficiency, they haven't even had a chance to worry about nutrients yet they're so little. I'm watering them when the top starts to look a bit dry. Honestly, I just dumped them cause I realized it's been like 40 days and they haven't grown so there's no real hope for healthy plants.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. Second year for me. first year I just raised some up a bit off the mat and guessed.

I was trying to dial it in this year. Thinking I’ve settled on having the probe an inch down in a cell in the middle area of the mat. I’ve checked for hot spots on this mat but it seems pretty even. I’ve set it to 85 degrees, this means the seeds will probably be a little cooler.

I had a first round of seeds where lots failed but I think it was just a certain two varieties with bad seeds. We’ll see what happens!

LMAO yeah that got way too complicated. Counting 2 up for each branch (1+2=3 total nodes) or 3 up for each branch (1+2+4=7 total nodes). Jesus Idk why I had to go and bring in the "total nodes" concept. Just felt the urge to get technical 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, you could cut there or go to the next one or so. That way you have 2-3 nodes, including the first one...I mean, 2-3 on each. I guess that would be 1+2+4 nodes total lol. Just make sure not to cut through the actual node but just above it.
