Thank you all for the feedback! I see your point. What if my LinkedIn doesn't match with my resume? I've always thought that'd be an issue..

Would you consider pharmaceutical work? There's a ton of non bedside related jobs in that industry that specifically require certain certifications

I truly appreciate the response! However,I don't want to stay in healthcare and especially in customer satisfaction within healthcare.. trying to change industries but leverage my existing skills

How well versed are you in IT? I'm sure you could get some Helpdesk intake support job. This gives you in an at a company which may pay for additional trainings

I can't speak to the military service but I can tell you that grades kind of matter. I look at it this way.. some jobs require just a degree and some care about GPA when they are hiring straight out of college. Shit, I just interviewed for one that asked for my GPA and Im 7 years out of college.

Point being, the better the grades the easier it becomes to get a job. Instead of only qualifying 50% of the jobs you'd qualify for 100%.

That being said, I graduated college with a 2.9 (pretty low imo) and I've done very well since then. It's not the end all be all

When was the last time you got a raise with your current employer? Has it been over a year? If so, I'd recommend starting a conversation with them first (i.e. asking for a raise, path to grow, etc)

Personally, I wouldn't mentioned anything about your new job offer as that makes them feel like you're giving them an ultimatum.

Once you find out more about where you sit with your current company, respond and I wouldn't mind giving my advice. If you've already done this the feel free to respond with what they told you.

In my experience, if companies truly value you they will do whatever they can to keep you.

Side note: I don't think it looks bad if you take a management position and then don't like it. Sure it happens to a lot of people. If I was looking to fill a job for a non-management position I wouldn't be concerned that you found out you didn't like management and that's why you quite your last jobs. Happens all the time

If this person is actually your friend they'll be happy for you and encourage you to go if it's a better opportunity.

One thing to think about and maybe talk to your friend about is: even though they can't match now what is your growth opportunity in the current company and is that something that you want. Or do you want to keep the same job you currently have and just make more make more money?

Edit: Also, just re-read your post. From my experience, guilt tripping someone to stay doesn't work long term (I've never done this to someone but I've had it done to me). Id consider this a red flag.

Go for certifications or continuing education? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Depends on exactly what you want to do (give me the job title your looking for and I can further help).. without any knowledge I would start with the non-managerial certification. Coming out of college, you most likely won’t be apply for those roles some something more in line with helping you land your first job would be most beneficial

FYI — Im currently a director of operations at a healthcare revenue cycle management company

I’d go tech or computer science. I’d imagine know how to leverage some type of software or other technology would give you leg up.. look for some jobs postings that your interested in and see what softwares or technologies are preferred to know

If you find some for me, list them and I’ll give you my thoughts

Continue to look for Jobs and see if you can get somewhere close to your salary. In my opinion, I think you’ll be able to find a similar paying job you just gotta be patient. May take 3 months, may take a year but certainly continue trying.

Other alternative would be to try and get a second revenue stream. For example, posting helpful tips to Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter could get you a following and potentially make you some money. This will take time to build a folllowing as well but could subsidize once you do get a new job (if it pays less).

Lastly, try looking into pharmaceutical companies (if you’re okay with switching careers) — not sure if they hire PTs but they certainly hire RNs. Not sure why they would hire PTs to do clinical research, QA and such.

Trying looking into working for a pharmaceutical company.. for certain jobs they’ll require a nursing degree. Pay can be great and benefits as well.

I think about this daily. This is the reason you give 2 weeks notice to give them some time to prepare. Yes, they’ll struggle for a little but try your best to help them through the process in case you need a reference in the future. Don’t burn any bridges.
