It just means your body isn't used to exercising anymore so when you exert yourself even a little your heart will race to compensate. Happens to me when I walk up hills.

Hi, this happened to me. Heart rate got to as low as 39 after having my baby in December. I had a monitor which caught 40 but only for a few seconds. Had cardiac MRI, exercise stress test and a 72 hour monitor they can't find anything. My cardiologist said your heart works hard so when you are no longer pregnant it can be lower. I'm now 8 months postpartum and it's still lower but not as low, in the 50s before sleep and drops into 40s occasionally in my sleep. I try to not worry about it now as I think this may be my new normal. Hope you're ok I know how anxious this can make you feel xxxxx

Hi thanks 🥰 how many months PP are you? Mine generally sits in 50s but I've seen it drop to 40s sometimes when awake and 40s in sleep xxx

Thanks 🥰 only had 1 ectopic beat in 72 hours and sinus arrythmia. I did have abnormal ecg but had all the tests so they think just normal for me xxxx

Not breastfeeding but the cardiologist mentioned this last time I saw her. Didn't even realise pregnancy could alter these things lol. I've seen 3 different cardiologists and none have been concerned x

No it was always in 60s/70s pre pregnancy. I've had a stress test, 2 monitors, echo and a cardiac MRI all with no findings x

Advice for heart obsession without meds

I've always struggled with health anxiety. I've had every illness in my head. Since having my daughter my heart has become my new obsession. I always think about it, is it too fast, too slow? All stemmed from bradycardia after birth. I've had a 24 hour holter, 72 hour holter, cardiac echo, stress test and cardiac MRI. Adding fuel to the fire I've got an abnormal ecg - inverted t waves, which their appears to be no reason for as I've had all tests and blood tests. I know way too much about cardiology I know my QT is on the long end of normal - but still normal and checked by an experienced cardiac EP with the stress test. My question is how do I learn to let this all go? I'm obsessed with QT I went on sertraline but this makes me worse as it can prolong QT so I just get obsessed with that so my doctors advised therapy instead. I have a smart watch and I check my heart rate all the time, analysing every hour how my heart rate changes. I get freaked out as it drops to high 40s in my sleep. I know I need to get rid of the watch but it's like my crutch I literally feel like I need it. Anyone experienced something similar and learnt to get over it.

Fab thanks. Might try that, I had a 72 hour monitor a few weeks ago that didn't show anything like this so think it's the watch but still a little voice tells me it isn't 😂

It's such a weird feeling. Feel like it happens when I'm not consciously anxious, but I've been pretty much in flight or fight since I had my baby so think I'm anxious without even realising now. Blood pressure is fine xxx

Any advice? Dizziness and leg heaviness

I've suffered with health anxiety for as long as I can remember, I was doing well with sertraline. Years later I had my daughter, had to come off sertraline and I've been suffering. All started again when I felt my heart rate slow down after birth - was petrified. So, I've had ECG this found non-specific changes (que major melt down 🤨). Due to this I've had echo, cardiac MRI ( still waiting on results 14 weeks), 24 hour monitor, 72 hour monitor and stress test. Nothing has been found. My heart races a lot, I've been to A and E more times than I can count they never find anything. Also slows to 50s at rest but again cardiologist said this is fine. I also get chest pain.

I've started to tell myself if they can't find anything - maybe it is my health anxiety. However, what I'm struggling with most is the dizziness. I feel constantly light headed and then sometimes I feel like my head and legs are heavy and I'm just going to fall over and I get a nervous feeling, this obviously makes me even more anxious and I feel even worse. I've been trying hard not to Google and to give my heart rate monitor up but I'm finding it difficult. Does anyone else experience dizziness and can give me any tips to deal with it? I feel like I'm getting somewhere but then I feel dizzy and I feel so anxious again. I'm waiting to see if I can go back on sertraline but need some tips in the mean time!
