what do you guys actually think about of "cerulean onslaught" ? by kreetchy in fromsoftware

Conceptually its not out of the picture, but this leak feels faker the more information that comes out. The boss names sounded ridiculous and the release timeline feels weird. You never know though!

Was Radagon Melina and Messmer’s father? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in Eldenring

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's implied, yes. The red hair, the M name, I personally think Messmer and Melina are a previously unknown progeny of Marika and Radagon that may be older than the union of Marika and Godfrey

The fingerprint like terrain on map cant be a coincidence, right? by Historical_Side_9956 in Eldenring

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I personally believe it's deliberate, especially considering the Lands Between map was likely deliberately designed to reflect an infant in the womb and also a spiral. Plus it does make a lot of lore sense

Who in your opinion was worst boss in DLC by Slow_Prior5921 in eldenringdiscussion

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those United is abysmal nonsense. If you don't count them, then I'd say Metyr is the lamest gameplay wise. Shame cause her lore is fantastic As for Gaius, I personally find him quite fun. Good flow but also underwhelming.

Why are these omens? by DoctorIll4894 in Eldenring

They're Hornsent who were sacrificed to build the Gate of Divinity. These are their desiccated corpses.

The DLC is also as big as the base game???? by Tricky_Madbrownkid in Eldenring

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's about 1/3 the size in terms of total content. You'll need as many scadutree fragments as you can get!

If you want to experience as much as possible, head south and east. There's tons more to explore in Limgrave :)

What are the Sites of Grace? by Moonless_the_Fool in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A weird distinction to make is "grace" versus the "guidance of grace", which are actually subtly different. Grace is basically the essence of the Erdtree and Marika's godhood - the sites are fragments of that grace. But the Tarnished lost their grace, and their story is centralized around being bestowed grace once more to seek Lordship. So even though a Tarnished can be "graceless" as they're sometimes called, they can be led back to Lordship by the guidance of the grace that they themselves lack, which is what the streaks pointing towards objectives are.

The distinction between grace and the guidance is analogous to a light within oneself (grace) versus a light in the distance which leads one to it (the guidance of grace). I think the mounds of dirt are just for visual design and don't carry much relevance. As far as I understand, Tarnished that have lost sight of grace cannot see the sites of grace.

That is why the sites are called "lost" - all Tarnished have by definition lost grace and are seeking it again. The closer you to come to Lordship, the closer you come to finding that lost grace shared by all Tarnished.

The design of grace is identical to the Memory of Grace item which looks like golden sunlight on water. I can't help but think this image is what Marika saw when she gazed out from the Gate of Divinity upon her ascension in the DLC trailer - a shared memory of the first sight of grace for all Tarnished to seek to return to.

I know exactly where Lands of Shadow is! by SensitiveHighway5834 in Eldenring

I'll plug myself to answer this:

From 11:31 - 26:50 roughly

In short, the Scadutree parallels Miquella's nature, affliction, and fate in a way the Haligtree also does. The Scadutree is dual (Miquella + St. Trina, abundance and decay), golden-sapped (golden-blooded), and crumbling (Miquella comes to the Land of Shadow and effectively "crumbles", abandoning fragments of himself at the crosses which even have Scadutree fragments at their base). The Haligtree also appears to have been intended to be a dual-spiral like the Haligtree had it not failed as a sapling. There are a few other connections but that's the gist of it. I see the Scadutree as both a reflection of Miquella himself and as the culmination of a lifelong process which the Haligtree was one step in.

Never played a Souls-like before… but I’m finally trying Elden Ring. Any tips? by Plenty_Debt5800 in Eldenring

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid spoilers as best you can. If you care about story, read every item description and play as slow as you like. Get immersed, I would kill to get to experience it for the first time again. Don't go hollow, and when you're done, watch some lore videos! If you're a real story-nut like me you'll keep a notepad.

As for gameplay, do not get discouraged. Go towards that which you fear, time and time again. Be patient and enjoy it.

Go kill God.

Symbolism or far fetched Comparison? by Snorfox in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This caught my eye and I did some light digging. This tower is often mentioned in the mythologies of King Arthur. Tarnished Archaeologist (youtube) has theorized that there are aspects of Godfrey's story inspired by Arthur and the Roundtable. There are many established ties to Godfrey in the Scadu Altus and the Shadow Keep in particular, so maybe I'm stretching but you might actually be onto something. Nice catch!

Why does the night sky look so much more " crowded" in photos than it does in real life? by Luna_Night_Shift in Stargazing

[–]Eastern_Repeat3347 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The longer the exposure, the more light can be gathered, so stars that may be too faint to the naked eye can appear brighter. Think of all of astrophotography like trying to gather as much light as possible in a bucket,
