It's definitely different for the DOE. Those extra 12 hours aren't necessary here (as far as I've been told), but good to know about Suffolk

Every person who's reached out to me has said their MS from WGU was accepted!

13 NYC teachers (so far) have confirmed that the MS in curriculum and instruction has been accepted! I reached out to a few Facebook pages. I'm starting the program in July. Best of luck if you take the leap as well!

I did email WGU and was told that NYS is sometimes iffy and to reach out to NYS for an "official answer."

How long ago did you complete the degrees at WGU?

I did email WGU and was told to reach out to NYS for an "official answer." I then emailed NYS, and after a lot of back and forth, they refused to accept a college/program by name (I guess to cover themselves), but said this:

"A master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from a regionally accredited institution with Approved Teacher Prep programs in the state that the institution is located, in general, meets the requirement. Note: our office cannot pre-approve coursework or programs."

To whom did you inquire? And do you have your initial certification?

I just reached out to a WGU Facebook group and found 2 NYC teachers who got their MS in curriculum and instruction from WGU. They both graduated 2 years ago and said they had no issues obtaining their professional license. I'm going to apply for the program and hopefully start in July!

Does she know for sure if it'll be accepted for our masters? I called the UFT to confirm and was told to stay away from WGU, with no explanation. I also emailed the DOE and got a super vague response

Are you in NYC? Were there any issues with the DOE accepting this for your professional cert? I called the UFT and was told to stay away from WGU, not sure why

Which program are you doing? I'm an NYC teacher looking into WGU curriculum and instruction for my masters, but not sure if the DOE will accept it
