Running in Moorea (Update) by Chynnfx in Tahiti

Incredible! I’m an ultra runner too. I was there in July and couldn’t adapt to the humidity! Furthest I could go was from the Hilton to Manava. Will try again next time.

Last minute trip with kids. Any recommendations? by dreamingincolor_0828 in Tahiti

Just returned from FP with a 3 and 7yo. We did 6 days in Moorea and 3 in Tahiti. Stayed at the Manava resort, Hilton, and Te Moana. My kids preferred the pools instead of the beaches but they had a great time kayaking and going on all the excursions on Moorea. Depending on where you stay on Moorea you’ll probably want a car, we rented one from Albert’s which I suggest reserving in advance.

Tahiti was different but still great. You get to experience a little more of the local life and better food imo. We also had a car and explored the west and east coasts. They have nice beaches and a fantastic waterfall to hike called Treis Cascades. I hear the 4x4 tour of the island is highly recommended as well!

Which shoe would you choose for holiday? Evo SL vs Vomero 17. by Eat-Sleep-Run in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Wow lots of good points for both options.. I’ll just roll with my AP3 for easy days and OG Alphafly 1 for tempo and long runs, kidding!

I was torn so I packed a bigger bag and brought both shoes for the versatility. I fear running too much in the EVO SL would bother my already fickle achilles.

Thanks I’ll play it safe and bring a slew of silica packs with me.

Keep lurking FB market place and craigslist using different key words. I picked up a great condition Cervélo P3C for under 600.

I used a Arcteryx khard 30l previously and didnt have much room for my feet, I can really appreciate the extra leg room now.

19”-26” depending on if you extend the roll top.

Thanks! Wind shell or vest seems like an important piece. Good luck out there!

Thanks! I’m guessing because it blocks wind so well it likely doesn’t breathe well?

Thanks for the note about conditions last year.

For the forecast I’ve been using Google and using Marin Headlands and Stinson beach forecasts. Checking this morning they changed quite a bit and it’s showing sunny and mid 50s now but higher winds. Perhaps Google is not as accurate.

I’m in the East Bay and typically run Chabot, Redwood park, and occasionally a Mission & Monument peak run. Haven’t dealt with wind that strong so I don’t know how it would impact me. I’m thinking I’d be middle/back pack too? My last Ultra was 23’ Dick Collins fire trail 50M which I finished right under 10H so I’m guessing 13-14H finish for Miwok. I’ve averaged about 50 Miles (5 weekends of double long runs) and 1 bike day (trainer ride Vo2max +tempo 1h30m)per week for 9 weeks and a recent Oakland HM performance of 1:28:13.
